Team Manila is featured in this week's Time magazine (Asian edition). I'm not surprised. Jowee and Mon are so creative. I've been a fan and supporter for many years. I asked them to do the opening billboard of my old show "F". They also made me a one-of-a-kind Tshirt...
F Tshirt made by Team Manila. One of a kind.
I also asked them to design Urban Zone's logo, title card and OBB
I was doubly-amazed to read about Pop Malaya, the Malaysian Tshirt/graphic design group I met at the British Council Creative Cities Conference last week.
I was just saying that these Malaysian Tshirt designers reminded me of Team Manila (when I posted it on Flickr)
Like Team Manila, who works around local themes and icons such as the jeepney, Jose Rizal, cockfighting, cola in plastic bags, Pop Malaya also puts their national hero, city bus service and the durian as pop-art graphic design on Tshirts.
And instead of wearing the "trendy???" kafiyeh, they designed their own version of the Malaysian traditional batik/fabric.
The Malaysian creative entrepreneurs, my next door neighbours for one week in Bandung.
Yay to promoting local heritage!!
