Feb 24, 2011 21:46

So I'm a little late with this, but I haven't been writing at all recently (I'm sure you've noticed) or at least nothing fanfictionish, and I want to know how productive I was last year so I can motivate myself.

Total word count: 182,500

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Uhhh, WAY MORE, jesus christ. Sacred Simplicity just shoved my wordcount into the completely unexpected range. But actually when I'd looked at how much I posted? I wrote a lot less STORIES than I thought. It's just a couple of them are inordinately long.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in 2009?
Considering that I had no idea who Matt Doyle or Wesley Taylor or Jonathan Groff were in 2009, them. But also I wrote a LOT more porn than I normally do.

What's your favourite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Um, Sacred Simplicity, by far. It's huge and I really love it and there's so, so much of me in there and sometimes I think I started falling in love while writing it and I just. Really adore it, even though like three people total have read it. I should reread it, I think.

Now, what's your most popular story?
Oh! Uh. Dreaming Through The Noise, I'd say.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I WROTE SO MUCH MORE PORN HOLY GOD. Also, taking on something gi-fucking-gantic and actually finishing it.

From my past year of writing, what was...

Best/Favourite Story
The Sacred Simplicity of You By My Side. Secondarily, Dreaming Through The Noise. Which makes sense, as they're my two big ones.

Most Underappreciated by the Universe
Anything Chess-related, because no one reads it. Uh.

Most Fun
Totally all of those unposted/unfinished Broadway fics. Especially the one Chiara and I wrote together.

Most Disappointing
She Was A Beautiful Fiction, because I never finished it. I just...lost steam. It had SUCH promise, too. Ugh, hate that.

Story That Could Have Been Better
That OriginalSeries!Kirk/Spock one. Gravity. It just...I don't think it's very good.

Story With The Sweetest Moment
Bluh bluh. Probably Sacred Simplicity, it is sickeningly sweet in spots.

Story That Made You Cry
I don't think any of them - ohh, but If I Could Only Get You Alone made Chiara cry as I was writing it right next to her, which is the single greatest compliment I have ever received.

Hardest to Write
Sacred Simplicity, obvs.

Easiest to Write
On What Wings Dare He Aspire, probably. I remember writing it really fast and really easily, just having it flow. The tone of it helps, I think.

Most Unintentionally Telling
Sacred Simplicity, by far. I really, really should reread it now that my romantic situation has changed so drastically.

Most Overdue
Uhh, the second half of I Only Think About You When It's Raining (Or It's Not).

This Year's Theme And The Story That Demonstrates It Most
Uhm. Hmm. The theme is something like "being caught between two loves", mostly because of all of that Wes/Matt/Jon stuff, but also in Sherlock Holmes, in Dreaming Through the Noise...even in She Was A Beautiful Fiction, there was loyalty conflict all over the place.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Firstly and foremostly: Finish The Sideways House. This is profic, and we're making more progress on it every weekend.
Also in the profic realm: Keep working on Chasing Mercury; and get some short stories published.

In terms of fanfic...maybe post some of the Wes/Matt/Jon stuff...finish that Misfits fic and that DDS fic...write more mythological stuff. Yeah.

year in review, what i'm writing these days, am i seriously doing a meme?
