July 4th weekend

I managed a pretty celebratory 4th of July weekend, though not really intentionally. The White Horse put on their 2nd annual American Beer Festival, so we headed straight there after work on Friday. Dogfish, Goose Island, Victoria, Sierra Nevada... loads of good beer. Goose Island IPA was particularly good, thanks gashlycrumb for the recommendation.

Saturday started off rather disappointingly, when I missed my tailor by a half hour and was unable to pick up my new suit. I was down until we realized my wife could pick it up today and bring it home. I did manage to squeeze in a sorely-needed haircut as well as pick up some nice shampoo before getting the week's groceries. Chores done, things started to look up. The two of us stayed home and I bbq'd while drinking a mint julep, prepared for my by my loving wife. I made buffalo wings, ribs, cole slaw, and corn, washed down with ice cold bottles of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Sunday we went to a friend's place for a bbq and watched the Wimbledon final. The men's tournament has been outstanding this year. I am a Federer fan, but man you gotta feel for Roddick, who played extremely well.

So yeah, all in all, a pretty fine weekend. Not really happy to see Monday come along.
