You're Not the Only One With Snakes, phargle!

Played some Last Night on Earth Friday night in lieu of D&D, which phargle has soured on running recently. LNoE was fun, and cinematic as all hell. By the end of the Escape in the Truck scenario we had seen the farm girl get hot and heavy in the truck with the drifter after filling it with gas, and as zombies closed in from all sides. The farm girl then escaped as the drifter was eaten alive to take refuge in the school where the sheriff and the school girl had taken refuge for most of the game. Said farm girl held off the zombies with her shotgun as the truck keys were found and was eventually brought low by zombo hordes. From there it was a close call at the end as the seductive powers almost dragged the school girl, sheriff, and jock into a three way but luckily they saw sense, and even delayed the departure escape so that the sheriff's son could narrowly make it through the pouring rain to the truck for the escape. Then we ate Taco Bell and bored snivelfish with gaming remembrances. Lots of fun.

Saturday's surprise party for Alex went off swimmingly. He wasn't as surprised by the party as he was by some of the folks we got to come up from El Paso for it. We played cornhole (the birthday boy winning both games he played in) and drank and did the ratonera and a balloon race (of the butt popping variety) and had a music-backed Alex slideshow playing on the tv thanks to the Xbox 360. Got some great pics and video of general jackassery as well.

Sunday was hangover day. I spent a lot of time on the couch, watching Lars and the Real Girl (I recommend it, check it out) and The Queen (which I couldn't really get into and which I probably won't finish). By the afternoon I was feeling up to a walk so out I went. Was concentrating on the impending thunderstorm at the end of the walk and almost passed right by a two foot long rattlesnake. The dog in fact walked right by within a foot of the damn thing, which had the temerity to just sit quietly and completely unmoving as we walked by. Once I started stoning it it took to moving and rattling, as it should have long before. Not sure if I killed it but the whole thing makes me not want to take the dog out up there again for a while. It's the second time in as many walks in which someone mentioned that they had seen a rattler about. I blame the wet. Which came in shortly behind me as I got back to the house. Lots and lots of cool torrential rains. Was nice, although the front yard suffered a little from it. Still not that bad where I redid the rock, which is good.
