Why does a computer dystopia interest us? The reason find this genre interesting is because of the possibility that some of these events might occur. But now that we know that computers may take over in the near future, would we still attempt to create artificial intelligence? The answer is yes, currently we're already making robots. I went to Nextfest in October and had a chance to see all these neat gadgets. I had this robot hand squeeze my hand.(With the owners consent of course, I asked him if he could crush my hand, which he couldn't, because of the way it was built.) If you go on youtube you can find countless videos about robots. Some that have the ability to fool humans for up to 20 seconds. As we have read in "The moon is a harsh mistress" Mike can mimic mannie's voice and give orders. Though the ending of the story was a bit bad. Mike just disappears... after all of the things every goes through he disappears. I was expecting him to go on a killing rampage. The programming that always states the purpose of the robot, is the error in coding. We saw this in "2001: A Space Odyssey" HAL said that he cannot let Dave jeopardize the mission. So HAL started killing off people. The ending of course was a like a drug trip. "Alphaville" wound up eliminating people that were illogical. In the movie "I,Robot" the main computer had to take away human rights and put them under quarantine in order to protect them. The logic behind it was that humans are naturally destructive and the robots must do anything to protect them. Even though we all have been scared into thinking that robots will dominate us, I think scientists are still working to create some sort of artificial intelligence. I just hope they never decide to give the program any power. That being said, would anyone here trust a program to maintain life support for humans?

RobotLand WalkerRobot PetsNintendogs That's just a couple I found the most interesting. Loved how the cute robot seal reacts to human touch. Although my dog wouldn't think the idea of replacing him is so cute. My dog even gets jealous when I play "Nintendogs".
