This past week, we mostly talked about the book. Afterwards the post declamation
came up and Kimberly brought up a point about AI, at what point does a computer become close enough to human that it no longer deserves to die. I have no problem taking apart my computer and replacing a few new hardwares. But what happens when it could feel and have emotions? Funny thing is humans are similar to computers, we're all made from other components and we each to function as one. "Water, 35 liters. Carbon, 20 kilograms. Ammonia, 4 liters. Lime, 1.5 kilograms. Phosphorous, 800 grams. Salt, 250 grams. Saltpeter, 100 grams. Sulfur, 80 grams. Fluorine, 7.5. iron, 5. silicon 3, grams, and trace amounts of 15 other elements. All the ingredients of the average adult human body, right down to the last specks of protein in your eyelashes." -Hiromu Arakawa: Fullmetal Alchemist
Something's still missing. We can just buy all these ingredients and put it together and just have a mess on the floor. Of course I was not able to answer the question of when do we have the right to shut it down. Your thoughts?
On a side note, I don't trust Mike. There's always some flawed logic that makes robots turn on their masters.
