"Remember to remember me standing still in your past"

I'm on another Wilco kick. I've realized that I like them so much because they are the only band I've ever heard that actually reminds me of the Beatles. Some of their guitar hooks in particular sound like they could be from The White Album reject tracks. "Hummingbird" and "You Are My Face" still sit high on my favorites list, but "Impossible Germany" and "Just a Kid" are growing on me all the time. And "Hate it Here" is so Beatlesque! Love it.

I am like this close [pinches fingers together so that they are separated by less than a millimeter of air] to having a girlfriend. Seriously, so very very close. I like Killeen soooooooo much. We had another five-hour date on Wednesday after the GLN meeting, and I completely stand by my decision to sacrifice my Thursday morning by staying out til 3 AM. Totally and completely worth it. We had a ball at Clarke's in Boystown eating late-night breakfast with an enormous sundae for dessert. I love how much she loves theatre and activism and social consciousness and is so smart and is so willing to be silly. I wish she weren't so self-deprecating, because she's so wonderful! It's also weird to think about dating anyone who is still 19 and living anywhere but Iowa City. I have to keep reminding myself that there are places in Chicago I would love to take her, like dancing at a jazz/blues club, that she can't go til she's 21! Iowa City's 19 Ordinance has totally skewed my assumptions about nightlife anywhere else. But we're going bowling at River East on Sunday after I get back from Cincinnati, and I cannot wait. We totally would have had our first kiss Wednesday night, but I was temporarily parked with my hazards flashing on State St. in front of her dorm (do people still live in dorms?), and this squad car kept driving back and forth down State while we were wrapping up our conversation, and then all of a sudden it put its lights on and headed towards my car, and we were so nervous that she abruptly jumped out of my car so I could get moving and avoid police confrontation. It was so unfortunate! It was such an awkward end to a wonderful evening, and we both texted about it later that night. We've been communicating in some fashion everyday since our first date, and I'm just so smitten with her. I'm glad our next date will involve an actual activity, though the sitting and talking has been wonderful, too.

Ok, one episode of Buffy, and then I am so going to bed.
