I have a daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate!!!!!!!

Wednesday night + Greektown dive at 10 PM + Me + the very smart, funny, theatre-loving, attractive KILLEEN (squee!) = YES!

Oh man, do I have a big, middle school crush on her. It's a little ridiculous, but I don't care! Because we're going on a daaaaaaaate!

Also, work was totally and completely fabulous. I love this job. Why oh why isn't it a 9-5 job?!?! It's so much fun! All the people, both staff and clients, are sweet and wonderful. I feel totally valued, and it was only my first day! The work itself is manageable (not too busy, not too boring), and as much fun as administrative work can be. I enjoy the color-coded calendars in DancePro; they're pretty and fun to navigate. I think I will enjoy overhauling their filing system, which is currently a mess from neglect by the part-time receptionist they had before me. And once I learn the inquiry call script well, life will be a breeze.

At the end of the evening, around 8:40 or so, I was at the front desk organizing over a year's worth of credit card receipts that had been left in a big pile into month/year-marked envelopes when Aaron, one of my supervisors, came over and said, "Danielle, when you're finished with that, could I see you in my office, please?" I expected some sort of end of the workday wrap-up meeting, but when I knocked on his door, he got up from his desk, extended his hand in this, "Shall we dance?" gesture, and whisked me onto the dance floor! I'd told them I'd taken some ballroom in college, and that living with Amy had exposed me to some swing, and so he just led through some foxtrot, waltz, and then triple-step swing! This made me very happy because I loved swing dancing in St. Louis despite not really knowing what I was doing, but triple-step always threw me for a loop when I would get a lead who danced in that style. Lindy hop I could keep up with, but triple-step was another beast. So it was wonderful to have Aaron break some of the physical fundamentals down so that I could understand the style and properly follow him. IT WAS AWESOME. He said that I'd probably have the chance to do those kinds of 20-minute sessions with one of the instructors at least a few times a week! Yippee!

I am going to keep applying for other things, but I will be happy to stay in this job as long as I have to. I don't think there are many positions in which I would enjoy my workday this much, even though the hours suck. And I can and should be making more than $9/hr. Given the current job market, it's a bit much to be asking for the best of both worlds, I know, but a girl can dream, can't she?

Oh, and Jamie came through for CAN-TV on Friday!

WHAT A GOOD, WONDERFUL, SPLENDIFEROUS DAY!
