Even diamonds break in reality
And I'll cry for you Shot through the heart
I'll die for you For true love
Should I tell everything to only you?
Now I'll cry for you Wishing for happiness
I'll die for you Until I've burned out
With my whole body, I'll catch you

Do you still have that pinky ring?
Even if we're separated, time connects us
Now, we're far, far away
My voice can't reach you Yeah

Cry for you

Masaki faltered before getting to the last step of the staircase, which would lead him to the corridor he knew so well. The memory of his last time crossing it was so devastating in his mind, making his heart clench. The day he had broken up with Jun.

In that rainy night, he left the apartment with rushed steps and without looking back, afraid of lacking the courage to keep his decision. He only noticed his shaking legs and his uncontrolled tears when he got to the cab. Then, he fell apart. He could barely give the driver the address of the hotel he would stay in until he found a place to live. He threw a last glance at the building where he had lived in for four years and fell into an unstoppable cry. He wished he could return one day, but wasn’t sure if that would be possible.

Sensing his hesitation, Jun squeezed his hand, in solidarity.

- Is everything all right?

Masaki nodded and started walking towards the door again.

His eyes teared as soon as he stepped into the apartment. Apart from a new curtain and a few song sheets spread over the dining table, everything was exactly the way he left: the same furniture disposed in the same places, the same portraits showing happy pictures of them, the same coziness he felt the first time he had stepped there.

- I tried to keep everything the way you’ve left - his boyfriend seemed to read his thoughts. - In the beginning, I considered moving out or changing the decoration. I believed it would be an easier way to bear your absence. In the end, though, I couldn’t take anything out of the place. In a way, it was as if you would show up at any moment - he hugged him from behind. - I always hoped you would come back.

Masaki caressed the arms embracing his waist tightly.

- I always meant to come back. I just needed to be sure…

- I know - the musician rested his chin over his shoulders. - I will never disappoint you again, Masaki.

- I have no doubt of that - he stated, before turning around to capture his mouth in a soft kiss. - I’ve always known you would overcome your addiction. You have always been strong, Jun.

- It’s hard. I have to face a daily battle not to surrender to my addiction, still running in my organism. But, then, I think of you and all my turmoil fades away…

- Don’t deceive yourself. I have nothing to do with it. It’s your will to resist which makes you stronger. If it wasn’t for that, you would never be able to succeed. You’ve done that without me.

- That’s not true. It has always been you… I know you’ve been beside me all the time, watching for me in the shadows.
The orthopedist’s eyes widened, in surprise.

- How…?

Jun smiled, taking his hands between his.

- I’ve always known you were there - he confessed. - I have seen you hidden, a few times, watching me at the clinic. It was so hard to fight the temptation to run to you and hug you tight…

- I’m so sorry… I never meant to interfere in his treatment.

- Interfere? You don’t understand, do you? Your presence there was what gave me strength to keep moving on. Resisting you was much harder than getting rid of the drugs. I’ve promised myself to never make you cry again. I…

- Shhh… - Masaki pressed his pointing finger over his boyfriend’s lips. - This is all past, now. Let’s focus in our new beginning and forget all the rest… - he took off his finger and replaced it with his lips, in a slow and tender kiss.

Jun crossed his arms behind his boyfriend's back, eliminating the space between them and deepening their contact. He moaned when he felt his lower lip being softly bitten.

- Nothing else matters, Jun… - he repeated, in a whisper.

Jun smiled and tried to pull him to a kiss, but he moved away.

- I remembered something - Masaki said, excitedly, while heading to the bedroom.

The musician followed him, frustrated by the break of their intimate contact, but also curious.

For a few seconds, Masaki halted with the memories of them in the intimacy of the bedroom, sharing the bed. They’ve made love there so many times… And many nights, after that, or in the mornings when he woke up first, he would just stay there, contemplating the handsome face of his boyfriend in his sleep, thankful for having the luck to have him by his side.

His eyes searched for the corner where Jun used to leave his favorite guitars. The other ones, which he collected, he left in the old office of the band, for lacking the space in the small apartment. He wondered where they would be at that moment.

Getting closer to the ones that remained there, he took the red Gibson and plugged it to the speaker. He was careful to lower the sound, not to bother the neighborhood. Sitting at the couch beside it, he fingered a few strings, as if warming up.

Jun followed all the process in silence, without understanding what he was planning to do. It took him just the first notes of the intro, though, for him to understand it.

He watched, in awe, Masaki’s fingers moving skillfully over the strings and when he started singing, with a nostalgic expression, he felt his sight blurring with tears.

So close, no matter how far
Couldn’t be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don’t just say
And nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know
Masaki was focused on the notes, his fingers shaking, but determined, trying not to miss any chord.

- No, senpai… this finger has to be in this string. Like this… - Jun repositioned the older man’s finger in the right place.
The simple touch of the younger made him tremble, a delightful shiver running down his spine.

- This is so hard, Jun-chan...

- We have rehearsed this note several times. It’s not that complicated.

- It’s easy for you to say, you are a professional.

- That is not true - he played the modest. Then, he sighed. - We can change to an easier song…

- No! I like this one. I’m not presumptuous enough to do the solo, anyway… Besides, you have been teaching me for weeks. I just need to practice it a bit more - he smiled, retaking his position. - That’s it, right?

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words, I don’t just say
And nothing else matters

Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they say
Never cared for games they play
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
And I know... ! Yeah!
Masaki was already preparing himself to finish the music when a sharp and tuned sound reverberated around the bedroom.

Before he realized, Jun had already taken another guitar on his hands and were playing, with perfection, the solo he would never be able to play.

He felt goosebumps, excited. Not only by the sound coming from the instrument, but mainly by the beautiful and focused expression in his boyfriend's face whenever he was doing what he enjoyed the most.

He was the one who ended the music, once the orthopedist wasn't able to move anymore, thrilled.

So close, no matter how far
It couldn’t be more from the heart
Always believing in what we are
And nothing else matters
- Wow... - Jun said, surprised, as soon as he finished. - You haven't played it anymore, I never thought you could still remember it.

- I worked hard to learn it - Masaki sighed, his mind going back to the time when his 16-year-old-self kept practicing during his free time in order to learn the music. - I wanted to impress you.

- Well… you surely did. I never thought you could learn that fast.

- I had a good teacher.

- That’s true - he answered, full of himself. - You were really amazing, though, Masaki. I was very proud of you.
Masaki smiled.

- So proud that you even stole me a kiss - he reminded him, with a joyful expression. - Then, you ran away…

Jun blushed at the memory. Masaki’s lips were so close and his satisfied smile was so beautiful… He didn't even noticed when he approached him. He only realized the situation when he felt the soft lips against his.

- I was frightened! - he defended himself. - I had never kissed a boy before.

- Neither had I… Actually, I had never kissed anyone. You stole my first kiss. And, since then, I’ve never kissed anyone else.
Jun looked at him said, wishing he could say the same.

- Then, you ignored me for two weeks! - Masaki insisted in the memories.

- I couldn’t face you. I couldn’t understand my feelings. There were so many girls trying to call my attention… And I had only eyes for the beautiful and popular captain of the basketball team.

- Well… it wasn't that different with me. It wasn't to learn how to play that I asked you to give me guitar lessons. It was just an excuse to be close to you.

- And to seduce me with this amazing smile and this so tasty lips? - Jun kneeled in front of his boyfriend and pecked his lips. - You did it. You’ve left me completely in love with you, Masaki-senpai.

The orthopedist smiled again by hearing how the younger used to address him when they’ve first met. Even later, when they were already dating, it took a while for Jun to stop with the formality.

- So in love to the point of doing a serenade to me?

- It wasn't a serenade! - Jun blushed again. - I just… well… you don’t need to remind me of these embarrassing things!
Masaki laughed.

- And losing the chance to see your face blushing? You have no idea of how beautiful you are when you are embarrassed - he placed the guitar on its base and crossed his arms behind his boyfriend’s neck. - But you have a point. Let’s leave the past only in our memories and live the present. - He kissed him. - I’m ready for this now.

The musician faced him, anxiously, in face of that statement. They have been together again for two months and, in spite of the intense kisses and the caresses they exchanged, they hadn't done anything more intimate. It was true that he had a faint hope when he invited him to his apartment, but he had decided not to pressure him and respect his wish for them to take it slow.

Unmoving, he watched Masaki standing up and walking to the bed. He shivered, as soon as he saw him getting rid of the jacket and the t-shirt he was using. Then, he saw him undoing his belt and opening his zipper, showing his white briefs, which showed his slim and toned body.

He was even more handsome than he remembered.

The doctor took his place in bed.

- Are you waiting a formal invitation? - Masaki asked, due to his paralysis. - Make love to me, Jun… - he asked, then, in his raspy voice.

He stood up, shaken and thrilled, going at him with slow steps. Covering his body, he took his mouth with urgency and took off his own jacket, without interrupting the kiss. Soon, their bodies were engaged in a sensual dance, rubbing against each other with longing and complicity. They only moved away from each other when Jun went to pick up the lube and the condom from the bedside table’s drawer.

- I love you - Jun said, his eyes teary, before connecting himself to his boyfriend in a passionate and unconditional surrender.

***************************************
- Ohno-san!

The cop heard a voice calling out his name, but it seemed to come from so far that he didn't pay any attention to it. Ignoring it, he raised his fist once more, bringing it down, then, on a solid mass.

He felt his fingers hurting, but he didn't stop.

- Ohno-san! Ohno... That’s enough!

The voice seemed stronger, this time, but he ignored it once again, all the cells in his body burning with rage and apprehension.

- Where is he? - he asked, enraged.

The man under him moaned.

- Where is Nino? - he repeated. - What have you done to him?

- I haven’t done anything! - the other man answered him once again. - I haven’t seen Kazunari since that they we’ve met in his old apartment.

- Liar!

He raised up his arm again, but, this time, he was unable to bring it back down.

- It’s enough, Ohno-kun! - Ikuta Toma, his colleague in the department stated, pulling him away from the drug dealer.

- Please, Toma… I need to know…

- It’s not by killing him that you will find your answer.

Satoshi snorted, with his heart in conflict.

He looked with anger at the drug dealer they had just arrested.

He and his team had followed the clue of some suspects and invaded another lab, this time of cocaine and other drugs. He could barely believe when he recognized among the outlaws the stepfather who had attacked Nino in the night when he took him to live with him. Then, he was unable to care about anything else…

Out of his mind, he jumped over him without following the legal procedures for approaching a suspect. He was sure that he knew about Nino’s mysterious whereabouts. Those almost two months without news were driving him crazy. He faced him.

- If you have hurt Nino, I'm…

- I’ve told you already: Kazunari is not with me! - he repeated, the corner of his mouth and his eyebrow stained with blood.
Satoshi disentangled himself from Toma’s arms and reached for the suspect once more.

- I’m going to kill you! - he threatened him.

The man shivered.

- Kazunari is not with me… but maybe I know where he might be…
