 Chapter 1: Yesung

A rich voice filled the room with sorrowful melody. The voice owner stood beside the piano, his brown hair was long enough to cover a part of his eyes. His grip on piano side tightening as he reached high notes, his powerful voice echoing the last part of the ballad beautifully. He opened his eyes which had been closed as he tried to reach the high notes. He smiled. Yesung was practicing his solo part for the musicals, with Ryeowook's help on the piano. He was lucky to have Ryeowook as his roommates, they were close and Ryeowook was always ready to help him in anything.

“How was that?”

“I think you sing magically, hyung.”

“Ah, good then.”

“Hyung, why you choose business major? I mean, you have amazing voice, you'll do great in music,” The younger man suddenly asked, looked up to him with curious face.

“I already have voice instructor, singing lessons, and all that in the agency. Don't you think I need a little break from all of those?”

“Right, sorry, I wasn't thinking.”

“What are you sorry for, really,” Yesung laughed. His dongsaeng only grinned sheepishly. Sometimes, only sometimes, Yesung felt Ryeowook was too kind. Saying sorry that easily, hell, Yesung almost never said it except to his boss. And that's only because his boss was as scary as the murder in Scream movie. But without the mask. He shook his head and glanced at the younger man who was fidgeting his fingers.

“You know, I mean what I said, hyung,” said Ryeowook, looked up shyly at Yesung behind his lashes. “Your voice is really amazing.”

“Thank you,” said Yesung, nodding with serious face. He walked to Ryeowook's side but ungracefully fell down when he tripped over nothing. He blinked-almost confused to find himself on the ground. Being a professional singer, winner of rookie solo male singer awards, didn't take his clumsiness away apparently.

“Hyung! Are you okay?” Ryeowook quickly ran to Yesung's side, helped the older to stand. A worried look appeared on his face. He ceased his eyebrow, making sure his hyung didn't hurt in anyway before he released his hold.

“I'm okay, I'm okay.”

“You should be more careful, did you trip over something?”

“No. I guess Donghae's alien friends was taking control my body for seconds,” Yesung said with another serious look which broke into a grin second later. He looked at Ryewook with satisfaction seeing his dongsaeng chuckled lightly.

“Hyung, you're unbelievable...”

“I know. I'm amazing like that.”

Yesung nodded with proud look which earning another chuckle from the younger male. He grinned and put his arm around Ryeowook's shoulder. “I promise Sungmin to take him to the cafe near the station. Do you want to come along?”

Ryeowook shook his head quickly.

“Thanks, hyung. But I think Sungmin-hyung wouldn't want me to disturb you two.”

“Non-sense. He probably will be taking Kyuhyun as well, it's not like it's our date or something.”

“Oh... but-“

“And he said they serve the best strawberry shortcakes in town, and don't lie, Wookie. I know how much you love those,” Yesung put his hands behind Ryeowook's back and shoved him out the room, not caring about the younger's weak protest. He spoke with sing-a-song tones, “Come on~”

He noticed when Ryeowook seemed to give up and walked beside him without further complaint. The singer grinned inwardly. His roommate never denied his request, not even once. And he liked it that way. Not that he ever denied Ryeowook's request either. It seemed to him, their weakness was each other. And it was kind of sweet, in some way.

But then again they both had the same problem: they can't say no to others; so maybe it was not that sweet. Ryeowook might be his weakness, but he couldn't say no to Sungmin's pleading eyes too. And refusing what Leeteuk's ask was somehow made him felt guilty since he had done so much for people in the dorm. He found it was easier to just say yes to Kangin than dealing with his personality; Donghae was too innocent to refused; while both Kyuhyun and Heechul both were evil enough he would say yes to anything they said. So actually, his weakness was almost everyone. And that's not sweet, at all.

“Jongwoon!”

He didn't need to even turn around to knowing who's the owner of the voice. The temptation to ignore him and walked away like nothing happen was just too big too resist. But he told himself to be professional and buried his feeling deep down inside. No matter how irritating this person was. Even though he was more irritating than Sue Sylvester from Glee. And he didn't even wear the red suit.

“Kangin,” he acknowledged the man. Kangin was the director of the next musical and Leeteuk's ex, those were the reasons why he tried to ignore him and not punched his gut instead. Even now, he looked as if he owned the planet. Stood there with his red sweater and black hair, with his head held up high. Yesung didn't mean to sound harsh but he guessed he didn't hide his feeling that well, “What do you want?”

“There's rehearsal tomorrow, don't be late.”

“Okay.”

“I don't care how many boyfriends you have, your first priority must be the play.”

The director sneered when saying the 'boyfriends' part, leered at Ryeowook with obvious distaste. Boyfriends. Yesung's mouth forming a thin line, but he didn't say anything about the comment. As much as he wanted to rip his throat for speaking about Ryeowook and Sungmin like that, he wouldn't give the man the satisfaction. He forced a smile and held his roommate's wrist, leaving the director without so much as glance.

“Fine, whatever.”

“Is there a problem, hyung? You look... troubled.”

“It's okay, Wookie.”

Ryeowook suddenly stopped his steps. The older male stopped and looked at Ryeowook curiously, a bit taken a back with the determined look on his face. He took his breath, not daring to say a word until finally Ryeowook opened his mouth, looking at him without any trace of shyness he usually had. He noticed the younger's voice wavering a bit at first, but got stronger after each words.

“You can talk to me, you know. I'm not Sungmin-hyung but I care about you too.”

Yesung didn't say anything at first, surprised with the sudden strength the younger male showed. But then he shook his head, an understanding smile appeared on his face. “Yeah. You're right, I'm sorry.”

He mentioned to Ryeowook to keep walking as he telling his story.

“Lately Kangin and I have misunderstandings, to put it nicely. I don't know why he seems to hate me that much. Mocking my singing, saying I have no talent, I'm an arrogant bastard hiding behind my fame, things like that. I tried to ignore him before, but...” he sighed. He wasn't the type of man who seek universal popularity, he's quite content with a few praises from close friends. He had antis and he experienced the hurt feelings when someone spoke bad about him. Though that didn't mean he could just dismissed what the director said to him.

He gave his best to be a singer. He practiced harder than anyone to perfect his singing techniques. It was his dream to sing. Not to be famous or rich, he just wanted to sing. To be acknowledged as someone who could sing. It wasn't matter if they badmouthing his looks, his personality, his habits, or anything else. But his singing... that's unbearable.

“My voice-my singing, is the only thing I proud of. Hearing him saying things about the most important thing to me is... hurts\,” he grinned sadly. Ryeowoook didn't say anything, only looked at him with troubled look. He felt a bit guilty to make his dongsaeng wore expression like that. But he dismissed that feeling, he actually glad he could share his trouble with another. Although he already told Sungmin about this, telling Ryeowook was different somehow.

“And then, he started to insult my friends too. Sungmin and-“

Different, sure.

“-you.”

They just looked at each other silently. Both seemed not knowing what to do or what to say. Yesung scracthed the back of his head. He coughed awkwardly and was just opening his mouth before the younger male spoke suddenly.

“Hyung?”

“Yeah?”

“I know you are not like what he's saying and I love your voice,” Ryeowook spoke softly, linked his right hand with his hyung. He looked up to see Yesung's eyes and smiled, “I think many people has the same opinion as me. Isn't it enough?”

Yesung stared dumbly at their intertwining fingers. Then a wide grin broke into his face and he pinched his dongsaeng's cheek.

“Yeah, it's enough.”

oOo

“Hyuuuung, Wookiee, over here!”

A cheerful sound heard as soon as they entered the cafe. Yesung looked up at the owner of the voice to find Sungmin and Kyuhyun sat on a table at the corner. He raised his eyebrow when he saw Kyuhyun glared at him for unknown reason. Or maybe he knew. It didn't matter to him anyway.

He walked to the table with Ryeowook beside him. He sat beside Sungmin while Ryeowook sat beside Kyuhyun. There's no way he would sit beside Kyuhyun, the magnae's murder aura already felt heavy enough from ten meters. Sungmin gave him a quick hug which he didn't bother to respond since as soon as it came, the hug was over already. He gave a peck on Sungmin's cheek though, knowing the younger loved it when someone gave him even the simplest affection. He noticed that Kyuhyun's seemed tense and glared at his frappuccino while Ryeowook looked at the menu, hummed lightly when doing so. Now, wasn't it interesting to see the magnae jealous.

“Sorry for not waiting you, hyung. But I was so thirsty and Kyuhyun here didn't give any help,” Sungmin smiled sheepishly, put another spoon of his strawberry ice cream in his mouth.

“It's alright. What do you recommend here?”

“The slushies are good, and you might want to try their strawberry special recipe,” said Sungmin slowly, biting his plastic spoon as he thinking, “Although since you love coffee, Kyuhyun said the cappuccino here is even better than Starbucks.”

“Hm... I guess I'll try the cappuccino. Do you think it'll go well with tomato?”

“No, It won't, hyung.” Ryeowook's voice.

“Cappuccino for Yesung-hyung, then. How about you, Wookie? Try the Strawberry Vanilla Caramel Sunday, it sounds good.”

“Oh, hyung, you only want to try it as well, right?” Ryeowook grinned at Sungmin, both shared a laugh Yesung didn't quite understand. Almost like he didn't understand what Ddangkoma wanted most of the time. He didn't say anything though. He just looked at the menu when Sungmin answered Ryeowook's question with another grin. His fox-like eyes lightened when he spoke.

“Most definitely.”

“I guess I'll try it, it sure sounds good.”

Yesung opened the cakes page. He raised his eyebrows, contemplating for a minute. Then he turned his face at Sungmin. “What did you say about the cakes, Ming? Ryeowook said he want to try as well.”

“Oh, you have to taste their Strawberry Shortcake, Wookie, it's really tasty.”

“Ah, but the cheese cake looks good too,” said Ryeowook, pointed his finger at the said cake picture. Sungmin leaned to Yesung, saw the pictures over his hyung's shoulder. He tapped his chin lightly, seemed contemplating what to do before his eyes, again, lightened up.

“Let's see them first. They display all the cakes on the counter.”

“Ask if they have tomato cakes.”

“What's with you and your sudden obsession to tomato, hyung?”

“Tomato is red.”

“So is apple.”

“Well, yeah, but apple is not tomato.”

“....whatever you say, hyung.”

When Sungmin and Ryeowook finally had gone, he stared at Kyuhyun with a smirk on his face. He could read the magnae pretty well. Sungmin might not realize it since he was a touchy person, but Yesung realized it; that Kyuhyun who hated showing affection, would hold Sungmin whenever the older asked. That Kyuhyun would stop in the middle everything he's doing when Sungmin called him. That Kyuhyun always glared at Yesung, whenever he was getting close to Sungmin. It didn't need a genius to tell that the magnae liked Sungmin. Like, as in Samson and Delilah. Minus the hair thing.

“You don't talk much, Kyuhyun.”

“Really?”

Yesung hummed, not slightly bothered by the lack of friendly tone Kyuhyun gave. He expected this afterall. Somehow Kyuhyun reminded him of Severus Snape, or maybe it just him. Anyway he found it's amusing actually, the way the magnae held himself when there was Sungmin and the way he snapped when the object of his affection was not there.

“You're jealous,” Yesung stated.

“And you're weird.”

A husky laughed came from the older. He, for seconds, didn't say anything. He just stared at Kyuhyun, who refused to look at him and played with his drink instead.

“I slept with him. But I guess you already know that.”

His dongsaeng's face was almost indifference, but Yesung knew better. He notice the way his hands clenched the instant he said those words, small gesture that showed him that Kyuhyun's angry. No, he's furious actually.

“It's not my business whomever you're fucking.”

His voice was wavering.

“Is that so? Well, that's a shame. He's a good fuck. Tasty and very tight.”

Yesung purposely said that with his husky voice and dreamy tone. He practically imagined Sungmin on his hands and knees now, but that wasn't the point. He knew Kyuhyun almost lost it, and he waited it patiently until the younger glared dagger at him. His voice was low and dangerous; but Yesung could careless, really. It wasn't like Sungmin was Kyuhyun's boyfriend or anything. Sungmin was a free man, like Jack Sparrow. Only cuter. And saner.

“Shut up.”

Now, it's getting more interesting.

“I bet you want to try him as well.”

“Don't you dare speaking about him like that.”

Kyuhyun almost growled when he said his next words and Yesung didn't even bother to hide the amusement sparkling in his eyes.

“Is there something wrong?”

Yesung flashed a smile at Ryeowook and Sungmin's confused looks as they came back to their table. He waved his hand to indicate nothing's wrong although he didn't say anything. So was Kyuhyun. The magnae only glared at his hands, not knowing what to do. And Yesung thought it was kind of cute how Sungmin glanced at Kyuhyun every now and then but didn't say anything.

“Ah, I almost forgot. The teachers asked KRY to perform at culture festival next week.”
