We have been quite busy recently, what with one thing and another, but last weekend we went to see Love Never Dies. Having loved Phantom, we hoped this new musical would live up to the hype, and we weren't disappointed.
The staging and costumes are truly magnificent, and "Mister Y" (the Phantom), who now lives on Coney Island, was played by the amazing Ramin Karimloo. The first act started quite slowly, and for me it lacked a "killer" song. But the final sequence of the first act is wonderful ("The Beauty Underneath"), and the second act steps up a gear and is extremely enjoyable. The story ends with a tragic twist, and yes I shed a few tears.
I loved it. Love Never Dies is playing at the Adelphi on the Strand. If you like musical theatre, give it a try... if you can get a ticket!

Last night we went to the Roundhouse in Chalk Farm for a concert that was part of the iTunes Festival. I've never been to the Roundhouse, but it was virtually derelict for years (the RSC's Macbeth was filmed there), and has now been redeveloped into a lovely performance space. The restaurant is pretty good, too! We went to see Marina & The Diamonds, and Goldfrapp. It was standing-only at the concert, but it was a fun evening, and I took a few photos.
