SUN
Donghae x Sungmin

“Min, why?”

“I just can’t deal with it anymore, I’m sorry.”

“But hyung, Sungmin-ah, why?”

Your passion hurts, because you love me too much and I can’t reciprocate your feelings. Your bright grin lights up my world. You give me sunshine on my gloomy days, you bring a shine to my dull life, you bring a flare to my tame style. You bring this inexplicable burst of warmth whenever you’re beside me, clinging to my arm or wrapping your hands fondly around my body.

“Hae, I just can’t, I’m sorry.”

And yet you bring scorching heat and pain, unimaginable burning rays, igniting the passion you claim that exists between us. Lately, I find myself avoiding you, desperately seeking out shade, dark spots that protect me from your radiant smile. I’m afraid, I’m afraid of hurting you, I’m afraid of being with you.

Never did Sungmin look into Donghae’s eyes when he brought news, seeing Donghae cry would make Sungmin himself in a mess of hot tears. Whenever one of them cried, it always triggered the other one to cry with them.

“Hae, go find someone else. I don’t deserve you.” Sungmin said bitterly, hoping his harsh tone would be enough to send Donghae away, send Donghae to someone better.

“I’ll be waiting for you, Sungmin-hyung.” Donghae wrapped his arms around Sungmin. A familiar flare of warmth attacked Sungmin’s gut again upon contact. “I don’t care.”

The sun was setting outside, casting an orange radiance on the city of Seoul. The moon had already slunk up the sky, dim and floating in the background. It would be another six hours before the sun rose again, following its everyday routine.

“I’ll be waiting for you.” Donghae whispered again and Sungmin felt his shirt dampen from the younger boy’s tears. He gently pushed Donghae away, only to have Donghae tighten his grip on Sungmin, his hand clasped tighter, whimpering and pleading him not to go. Sungmin felt Donghae tremble, his heartbeat erratic and spontaneous as he jerked uncontrollably in what might be their last hug.

Sungmin didn’t know how long it would take, but he knew Donghae would be waiting, just like he had promised. Donghae never lied to him, and Sungmin, also, never lied to Donghae. He did deserve someone better.

“Please, just come back. Sungmin-ah, I love you...”

“I know, Hae. I know.”

RAIN
Leeteuk x Sungmin

There was something special between Leeteuk and Sungmin that none of the other members found out. The two of them were definitely the more responsible ones of their large group. Not even Kangin or Eunhyuk knew of their special bond.

Sungmin brought it up, comparing their relationship to the puddles after a rainstorm. It was fun for a few minutes, stomping and frolicking in the muddy pools of rainwater, enjoying the freedom and bliss of the water, until the regret kicked in from dirtied clothes and muddy boots. During the whole confession, their eyes remained locked, their gaze eluding sincerity and stares dripping with responsibility.

The romance was there, definitely, and neither Sungmin nor Leeteuk could deny the potential of a lasting relationship. It was the fact that they knew each other so well, the fact that they knew what one another was thinking, that made it so much easier.

But it had something to do with their personalities, their sense of responsibility that solidified the final decision.

Perhaps it was a selfless decision on Leeteuk’s part when he simply nodded at Sungmin’s words, or perhaps it was Sungmin who made a noble decision when he decided to bring it up. Sungmin never knew that Leeteuk was secretly crying behind his smiles, crying at his impulsive agreement to terminate their relationship, and Leeteuk never knew that Sungmin was secretly regretting his brash decision to bring up their breakup. Perhaps that was the one thing they didn’t know about one another.

WIND
Kyuhyun x Sungmin

“Sungmin-hyung, where are you going?” Ryeowook called out from the sofa as Sungmin trotted towards the front door.

“I need a walk, don’t bother waiting for me.” Sungmin casually tossed out a reply, his arms slinking into the closet to retrieve a wind breaker. “Where are my gloves? Whatever.”

“Hyung,” Ryeowook called out, but Sungmin had slipped on a pair of converse and was out the door, his cap tucking away his eyes. Ryeowook knew where he was headed, and he also knew Sungmin well enough to give him space to cope with it.

The city was quiet and dark on the Wednesday night, shops were closed and even teenagers had gone home for the school day tomorrow. Sungmin took a few random turns up and down the winding streets as the wind howled, strong and gusty.

Sungmin shivered and tucked the cap closer against his head, the crisp shadow perfectly covering his eyes as he zipped up the jacket, his jacket.

The wind was extra strong at the harbour, and yet night after night Sungmin chose said location as his final stop. The waves crashed into the rocks, splashing and coating the eroded surface before another wave mimicked the one seconds ago.

The thin smell of salt crusted the walls of the old harbour, or what used to be a harbour. Now it was nothing except a tourist attraction and an occasional festive location, where local fisherman and vendors would set up small stands and sell fresh produce. To Sungmin, that same harbour meant a lot more than a tourist spot. The tall cylindrical stone pillars supported a wearing roof, the stone pillars themselves showing signs of continuous battering from the wind.

It was windy that night too, his voice was barely audible against the deafening wind. The weather station had announced wind speeds to be at least 50 miles an hour and raging gusts would peak at 75 to 80.

The tears stung against his soft cheek whenever the wind hit him straight on, the blistering cold whipping at the moisture on his face, streaking it with the high speeds.

“Kyu...” Sungmin wrapped his arms around his body, his fingers numb from the cold. Yet his ten fingers tugged at his jacket, stroking the thin, pastel green waterproof material.

It was all he had left of him.

“Oh, my child.” Sungmin turned around at the familiar voice. “It’s a cold one tonight.”

“Yeah, how are you feeling grandpa? Are your joints okay?” Sungmin turned around and smiled at the grandpa who was huddled up on the bench.

“Ohhh, I’ve been better.” The older man whispered faintly, his body visibly jerking from cold.

“Why don’t you go home, grandpa?” Sungmin sat down on the bench beside him.

“Same reason as you, my child.” The grandpa folded his hands in his lap, his maroon gloves making small mountains at the knuckles. “Enjoying a night breeze with an old friend.”

“You’re shivering badly.” Sungmin’s voice layered with worry and concern, he was halfway through taking off his jacket for the elder man when the grandpa held out his hand, a polite sign of refusal. “Grandpa, let’s go get a cup of hot tea.”

“He said for you to wait for him.” The old grandpa suddenly began coughing as he inhaled the bitter cold air.

“Let’s go get a hot drink, I’ll help you up.” Sungmin stood up and offered an arm for the older man to hold onto as he steadied himself, painfully ignoring his earlier statement.

“He would do...” The grandpa coughed again, this time more violently, “the same things. Hot tea and help me walk...”

Sungmin smiled as he proceeded with a small pace, the old man wrapping one arm around his own, as they made their way back to town.

Kyuhyun was on the other side of the cylindrical pillar, a pair of pink gloves snuggling against his slender fingers.

SNOW
Kibum x Sungmin

The very first night it snowed and the town was coated in a layer of white, Kibum held Sungmin’s hand and their kiss felt like eternity.

Their first night together was eternity. Kibum’s primal roars contrasting Sungmin’s soft whimpers, synchronizing a symphony of delightful moans.

When Kibum told Sungmin that he loved him, Sungmin was taken by surprise at his dongsaeng’s initiation. He wanted Sungmin to be with him for as long as possible. Sungmin really thought they could conquer it, that they could overcome the final barrier separating them together, hand in hand.

It never happened. They fucked harder that night, words of love casually tossed out as Kibum pounded harder into Sungmin and Sungmin clawed deeper at his lover’s skin. Fingers, cheeks, thighs, every inch of their body radiated unbarred lust.

“Min-ah, I love you.” Kibum gurgled out as he regained his balance before continue delving deep into the older man. Another moan escaped his lips when Sungmin pushed back, furthering the burning contact.

“Kibummm-ahh!!” Sungmin squirmed as his release fired out, burning and white hot. Kibum fucked him into and through orgasm, his hands pressing deep into his hips for control, their mouths attacking one another.

Kibum’s eyes conveyed nothing but fiery flames of desire and Sungmin ravished the embers of passion.

Maybe there was love, maybe they would have continued their relationship for as long as they could. Kibum continued sending flurries of snowflakes, all of them melting away by the heat before they had a chance to blanket the city once again.

Spring eventually rolled around, that was when Sungmin had hoped it would snow again. Nothing but torrential rains pounded the city, casting a wet drape over the grey, murky buildings. As much as he once savoured the frosty delights, Sungmin eventually forgot what the snow felt like.

FOG
Jungmo x Sungmin

Jungmo had already been a close friend of Sungmin even before they were casted onto Oppa Band. Jungmo had always been there for him, and Sungmin recognized that. He knew that whenever he had a hard time, whenever something was bothering him, Jungmo would be there for him.

Sungmin still remembered the first time when he had a fight with Kyuhyun, and he stormed out of their dorm, vowing never to return. It was Jungmo who took him under his wing, offering him a place to stay for the night, lending him his ears and persuading him to apologize. Sungmin couldn’t thank Jungmo enough for that, he had helped strengthen his relationship with Kyuhyun.

Filming Oppa Band, their friendship bloomed and Jungmo continued supporting him, staying by his side through everything, teaching him minor kinks about guitar and general, well being tips.

“Hyung.” Sungmin said one day while resting on the floor. It was their break and the two of them decided to go into the dance studio and freestyle.

“Yes?” Jungmo’s voice was tranquil and soothing, the deep lull easing nothing but a sense of warmth and comfort. That was another reason why Sungmin enjoyed spending time with Jungmo. He never needed to watch what he had to say, Jungmo didn’t really care about titles, he wasn’t interested in drama and gossip, he was just Jungmo.

“Hyung, I just wanted to say I really like you.” Sungmin bit his bottom lip after his statement. “Thank you.”

Jungmo didn’t say anything and instead, wrapped his arms around Sungmin’s smaller body, motioning him to lean into his embrace.

“Hyung...” Sungmin was silenced by Jungmo’s fingers, the parallel digits resting softly against his lip.

“You know I’m always here for you.” Jungmo whispered softly, as he shushed Sungmin’s response. “Just be quiet and enjoy this.”

“Hyung, but Kyu... and I...”

“I’m here for you, as a friend, as a hyung, as whatever you want me to be.” Jungmo began rocking their bodies in unison, a slow motion at first before Sungmin rocked with him, enjoying the comfort of their bodies. “I’m always here for you.” Sungmin couldn’t help but shed a tear as Jungmo wiped it away with a warm hand.

Sungmin knew Jungmo also felt something for him. It wasn’t like him to drop hints to edge him on, but Sungmin just felt it. It was mutual, undeniable, yet equally impossible. Neither of them made a move to further their relationship, they were happy with what they had, happy that they never needed anything more. Sungmin wanted more, maybe even Jungmo wanted more, but they didn’t need it. They delved on the grey area, the mystic realm of the unknown, a suffocating grey fog complimenting the dull spot they rested on.

“You said you’d always be here for me...” Sungmin’s voice was drowned by the dense blanket. His hands continued clawing at the emptiness in front of his eyes, the damp droplets of moisture sticking to his hand. “Where did you go?”

The fog never lifted, even when Sungmin had begged for a windstorm to blow it all away after his confession. He was still lost, his feelings a mix between Kyuhyun and Jungmo, the patch of fog continuing its everlasting haunt. Maybe it was destined that they would never find each other in the fog, destined they would never forward their relationship.

Or maybe Jungmo had already left, and Sungmin was chasing himself inside the unknown.

“I’m still here for you, forever.” Jungmo held him in his arms, their usual signs of affection. “I thought I told you that already.”

“Hyu-”

“Shhhh...” Jungmo hushed silence over his parting lips. “Just enjoy it.”
