Go directly to Ramona. Do not pass "Go". Do not collect 200 Landel Dollars. In other words, Scott was moving fast. He blamed Candy Land for his thinking in board game metaphors. Where was Wichita tonight, anyway, he wondered? Maybe he would see her on her way out of the girls' block tonight as well ( Read more... )

[from here]Now, all he really had to do was navigate himself to the Music Room without getting sidetracked by anything completely terrible and nasty! If it was just him in the dark, then that would have been no problem, but given how many things could come for him... Brook was careful in heading into the larger hallways from the block ( ... )

This hallway was basically the same as all the others had been, which seemed in line with the map Loki had taken care to memorize earlier. Which meant that up ahead, there was the door to the outside. He already caught the faint whiff of fresh air, and it was strange, nothing like what he was used to in Asgard - and not really all that much like Midgard as he'd experienced it briefly. There was an odd heaviness that put him on alert, though there was no outward sign of that and he didn't even pause as he breathed it in and considered it.

For now, he remained silent, moving easily along in the darkness as if it was a familiar friend. He always preferred to wait and see; people often said the most interesting and useful things into silence.

It was as they neared the door to the recreational field that Riku's stepped slowed. There was enough trouble usually brewing in this area that he didn't want his company for the night to be alarmed. It was the least he could do; alarm, in the end, was different from fear. As much as it was tempting to put him up to the test on that statement, he figured he had to be fair. After all, Sora probably wouldn't be pleased with the news that he didn't behave that way.

Then again, Sora might understand after Riku told him some of what he had to say.

"There's often trouble out this way," he remarked. "I'm sure you can handle it since you don't do the fear thing, but I figured I'd tell you. Sometimes it's someone shooting at you. Other times, you get turned into a monster and forced to attack someone. It varies." Riku purposely affected the casual tone of it, even if these were things that had bothered him in the past. He shrugged easily and waited to see how the other guy responded.

It was painfully clear he was being mocked, but Loki was in no position to do something about it immediately. That was fine; he had a long memory and more patience than the sad little mortals could comprehend.

He maintained his pleasant smile as Riku spoke, eyebrow twitching slightly at the dig but nothing more. "I see. Is the potential shooting with arrows, or some friskier modern technology that I am not yet acquainted with? And is this transformation you speak of some instantaneous bit of magic, or are there warning signs that might be exploited?" His smile went knife edged. "Though of course any way it falls, I shall do my best to inconvenience you as little as possible."

"So I need to teach you some things, too," Riku decided. It hadn't occurred to him that this guy was so behind on all of that, but it was just as well. There was the fact that Sora would've been more patient playing teacher than him, but he could deal with the change in roles. "I can handle that," he added a beat later with a shrug. No matter what they did, he figured he could throw out some information ( ... )

Surprisingly, the northern hallway contained a few familiar faces. Rita immediately spotted the afro belonging to the obnoxious man who'd accompanied her to the Medical Wing the other day, and quickly averted her gaze, hoping he wouldn't recognize her in return.

And was that Riku? It was strange that Rita would find him so shortly after hearing his name again. The man with him... it was hard to be sure, but he appeared to be Lingormr. Rita only gave them a passing glance as she moved through the hallway.

... It was probably a bad sign that Rita had come to know so many people at the institute. It meant she'd been there too long.

Rita was quick to reach the door the Recreational Field. The cold air she felt around it made her glad she chose the heavier military uniform over her flimsy patient clothes. This was going to be a piece of cake. Without hesitation, she opened the door and ventured outside.

Another hall, and the scale of what Sasuke knew and couldn't use ever-expanding, making it even more imperative to widen the physical space in which he had to play against Landel: and it had again become clear that their main opponent was Landel. Aguilar had come and left and the so-called resistance had done little more than re-install the enemy they knew; if it weren't an elaborate part of the Institute's regular schemes, if indeed it had only been dissenters in Aguilar's ranks who had enabled the chaos of the previous night, then the whole thing was at least a rather pathetic outfit ( ... )
