Dinner came and went without much fuss, probably because his roommate thought he was being courteous for sleeping through the entire thing. Yet this was one night where Sync needed his company awake more than anything, especially given what he had planned later on that evening. But before he could do the honor of shoving Nigredo off his bed, the

He moved down the hall to the correct door while exchanging thoughts with his brother. 'I fell' was not a valid excuse, even if it had to be at least partially true. His insecurity fled by way of doubtful sardonics, and he gave a mental eyebrow raise to his sibling. Nigredo insisted it was the fault of another, and there was enough anger in it for Albedo to let it slip by. Keep it to question further, but allow the explanation.
He sent a location query as he halted in front of Nigredo's door, shifting the sword to grip the blade. Blood dripped instantly, and nonchalant, he slid the sword under his arm while placing the ring under his hand. Nigredo replied downstairs, which gave the basement. He frowned to himself, wondering why.
...And a second later, sent more fiercely. {You went without me!} Despite promising to take Albedo if Nigredo went. He glared at Nigredo's door. The reply was annoying in itself, more for the content and less for the sender.

If he had to be honest, he thought he'd probably known the truth all along, but fighting it off with all his heart was the only way he could handle it. He wasn't ready to admit it to anyone, but he knew that feeling deep down in his gut too well. That was the feeling he always got when he suddenly wasn't sure if he was right, before he started doubting everything he'd believed until eventually, it became impossible to deny that he was wrong.
What if Ms. von Karma was right? It went against everything he knew about his partner, but after today's trip, his self-esteem couldn't sink much lower. Drinking was tempting, though there were things he should be working on. Who knew what was going on with the head doctor or where they might find Marc. Should they even continue on with that mission? Whatever the case, he had little desire to stick around and wait for Kurogane or Tsubaki to show up, as he was certain they would if he stayed in one place too long. There'd been no plans over the bulletin, so no reason he should feel obligated to go with them either. Running away was what he did best, after all.
He began to gather his things, looking forlornly at the bottle of wine as he pulled on his gloves and coat.

It wasn't hard to find Fai's room - the unmistakable tingle of magic behind the door was all she needed to guide her there, and as it had throughout her entire journey in the hallways, it grew stronger the closer she came to it. She tugged the door open with both hands, peeking around the frame and giggling happily when she caught sight of her dear friend inside, working on something - after missing him last night, she was so happy she had stayed awake to catch up with him this time!
“Fai!” She chirped, only a little more quietly than usual, because of how late it was - still, her voice carried every ounce of cheer and affection it normally did when she greeted the man. The little creature bounded towards him, arms outstretched - she didn't bother to control her pace or balance in this new form as she ran, positive he would catch her before she went far enough to fall. She missed being able to bounce up to his shoulder, but saying hello like this was okay, too!
“Mokona found you! Did you wait?”
