Day 56: Bill's Hardware (Morning)

May 03, 2011 15:00

While speaking with Peter had been amusing at first, it hadn't taken long for their conversation to go down dark paths. It wasn't really the kid's fault, though, and so Harvey ended up just dismissing himself as quickly as he could once the bus arrived in town. It was impossible not to notice the snow, but he wasn't very interested in it, even as ( Read more... )

[from here; Oh... Hello Harvey 8)]

Apparently, reflex overrode ill feelings in the end. Out of habit, Klavier gave a small smile at any employees who may have turned to look as he entered the store. It was such a normal thing to do, which just made it feel that much more abnormal in the given situation. But who was he to complain? He could really use a nice dose of "normal" right about now ( ... )

Harvey had automatically moved to the part of the store that had the axes, trying to recreate what he'd seen from his memory of the time that he'd been here. Everything looked different during the day, but wasn't that how it always went? It was hard to imagine that he'd once been in this place while full of panic because some undead creature was after him.

Worse still was the thought that the attacker might be the very man at the counter who was now watching him warily. He might have even sent the guy a glare (wasn't he allowed to window shop?) if he hadn't been distracted in the next second.

Being called "Herr Dent" was still something he had to get used to, but as Harvey turned toward Gavin, he realized that it was just one of the man's quirks. And honestly, anything was better than being called Harv, so he wasn't going to make a fuss about it. As strange as it was, he actually sort of got along with the weird prosecutor-slash-musician ( ... )

He'd followed Dent's gaze toward the tools hanging on the wall, briefly glancing over them with only moderate interest. Klavier hadn't been in here more than a minute and he could already tell he probably wasn't going to find much of interest. Not as far as tools went, anyhow. He wasn't experienced in using any of these things or crafty enough to think of projects that would require them. Besides, something told him a supposed mental patient trying to buy a hatchet or a hammer wouldn't go over particularly well.

"About the same thing, actually. I figured since they're setting us loose to enjoy this little shopping spree, we may as well take advantage and seek out something interesting, ja? ...And right now, it was either this or the spa." He was kidding. Maybe.

He shook his head slightly, still smiling like he was amused by the whole thing. But he glanced quickly at the man at the counter to see how closely they were being watched at the moment. "...Though it is interesting, isn't it? For people who are trying to come across as so ( ... )

Gavin's comment about the spa was delivered with a straight face, so for a moment Harvey did have to wonder. Granted, a massage didn't sound like the worst thing in the world. His muscles were all in knots and he was working through a lot of pain, though the thought of someone touching him and accidentally knocking against his arm or shoulder made him drop the idea before it had even fully formed ( ... )

Meeting with Maya again had been rather auspicious in Aigis' opinion, especially after a night as last night. Still, though, she felt a gloom sweep over her that she hadn't felt in a few days. The same gloom that set in when she remembered someone lost to her.

Heat.It had been cold the last trip into Doyleton. A cold and rainy day that grew worse with every passing hour. That day she had met with Heat and together they talked about escape plans and weapon building. Flame throwers. They had also talked about friends lost; those that had fallen to the institute's lies, and those that had died ( ... )

When it had dawned on Sechs that he never woke up from his clumsy after-dinner nap, he greeted that morning with a less-than-friendly manner:

"SHIT! SON OF A DECKMAN'S ASS!! FUCK--"

How could he have let himself fall asleep like that?! Was he really that tired to let himself sleep through a night where he could have found Alita and an escape route out of the institute?! Now Sechs had a pretty good idea on how Kibitoshin must have felt that one morning when he approached the Replica in a state of near hysteria over sleeping in! It was a frustrating and grating feeling to say the least, and Sechs mentally noted to himself to be a bit easier on the next person to come crying to him about sleeping through a night. He couldn't berate himself enough over missing any opportunities to bring down the institute and return to his former place ( ... )

Aigis heard the slamming of the door. She felt the cold rush of air from the breeze let in, but nothing could draw her away from her thoughts. Except maybe a loud voice calling her name ( ... )

Upon seeing the other android's pained smile and receiving her solemn greeting, Sechs felt an unpleasant pang in his chest. The heat in his face was building and his brain squirmed as though it were suddenly forced to recall something real important. That brief glimpse of sadness in Aigis' eyes... the shape of them... Why did he feel so weird over it...? She reminded him of someone, but who...?

Misha...The girl Sechs saved back when he was battling that crazed Whophon during the Z.O.T.T... The one girl out of many who were brainwashed into joining Whophon's cult, the only one Sechs managed to save from being hypnotized into killing herself. Once freed from Whophon's control, Misha's eyes were filled with utter loss... Sechs couldn't deal with her at the time, allowing her to leave the arena alive despite the judges announcing her as the last member of Whophon's team. Sechs could have easily finished her off with one hit, like stepping on a miniscule ant. But he didn't. It was just too easy. What ever happened to that girl anyway ( ... )
