While speaking with Peter had been amusing at first, it hadn't taken long for their conversation to go down dark paths. It wasn't really the kid's fault, though, and so Harvey ended up just dismissing himself as quickly as he could once the bus arrived in town. It was impossible not to notice the snow, but he wasn't very interested in it, even as he watched some kids run into the park, most likely with the hope of starting snowball fights.
The cold temperature mainly just reminded him of that ice box they'd been in last night, and while the room that had come after it had been far worse, he still didn't want to think about it either way. He let out a breath and frowned when it became visible in front of his face.
Even with his bandages pulled tight, some of the cold was still making it to his wounds and causing them to sting, which meant that getting inside was a priority. He wasn't sure if this was better or worse than the rain last week, but the bottom line was that weather sucked in general. Not that immense heat would have been any better. What was wrong with the weather just being mild?
It's not like he could stop the snow from falling, though, and so he pulled his coat tighter around his shoulders and started moving down the main stretch of road. At least it was more or less quiet out, though he also realized that he didn't know where he was going. The bar was always an option, of course, but Harvey paused when he realized that the hardware store was on the way.
He'd only been inside once, and it had been at night; there had also been zombies involved. He'd gotten an axe there, and while it hadn't been of much use to him, he did have some money to spare and he might as well see what the place had to offer.
He was still planning to use most of his money on booze, but that could wait at least until after noon. So without further ado, he trudged into the store, not surprised to see that he was the first one in. He realized that he probably wouldn't be permitted to buy most of the stuff in here, but it was a way to pass the time and that was about all he could hope for at the moment.
