Mah blue ribbon, let me show you it!

Sep 20, 2011 09:26

As usual I both volunteered at and entered at the local county fair -- checking-in and judging Poetry entries for the former, and going with my usual handspun yarn for the latter. Got my third blue ribbon in a row for spinning, so I'm happy (even if it's always a small class and the competition isn't *that* fierce).

Pics, under the cut. )

Shit! I just totally spoiled you for Miracle Day. Sorry! All I can do is offer you this sexy Sherlock icon and duck! (facepalm)

Oh, don't worry -- it's still all cryptic to me, so it may very well go right over my head when I get back to watching the actual show. :)

Sexy!Sherlock, however, is *always* welcome. :D

Congrats on your win. \o/

Lovely yarn. I'm so impressed that you can just produce something like that. I can barely knit! :D

Thanks! Ironically, I myself can't knit -- spinning is really the only fiber art I do. I got started with it to have some skill I could be practicing at demo/info tables for the historical group, not because I was into yarn to begin with.

I used to polish swords and armor at demos, since I thought that would interest the public and pull people over, but instead it scared them off. I hit on spinning as something active, non-threatening, and easily portable (so long as one's using a drop spindle and not a wheel). I'm finally getting to the point where I'm producing decent yarn, and I'm probably going to have to learn what to do with it in the near future, since the stuff's starting to pile up! :)
