So I may have posted too soon. Doob no longer wants to wear a diaper. Nor does Doob have any interest in going to the potty. I told him he has two choices, he can wear a diaper or he can go to the potty when he has to pee, but he cannot run around the house stark naked. Commence screaming, crying, kicking fit. Dan was golfing at the time, but Doob replayed it for him when nighttime came and Dan tried to change his diaper and put his pajamas on.
The little guy just really likes being naked. I tried easing him into it by allowing him to come down and sit at the table with us without a diaper, but after about 20 minutes I started getting nervous. I don't want him peeing on my in-laws furniture, rugs, carpet, etc. If we were on the beach or the deck, sure, but not inside. And if he was willing to even sit on the damn potty I'd probably allow it, too, but he shows absolutely NO ability to hold his pee. I'm hoping though, that this is the first step toward training. Obviously if not wearing diapers is a priviledge he desires, he'll have to learn to use the potty. Wish me luck.
So. I'm going to take him to the bouncy place this morning. It's down in Traverse City, and for only $6 your child (well, my child) can climb up the ladder of the huge inflatable fire engine, and then climb back down again because he doesn't like the slide, pretend to steer, wave at me out of the front window, run around the truck pretending to pick up garbage, and then scale the ladder again. I'd bring a book, except it's so damn loud with all the machines doing the inflating that I don't think I'd be able to concentrate.
I finally got into my Sharon Kay Penman book, Time and Chance supposedly about Eleanor of Acquitaine but really about the struggle for power between Henry II and Archbishop Thomas Becket. It's great fun, though her switching POV from paragraph to paragraph is super annoying and took me more than 80 pages to really accept. Now I kind of expect it and it's okay.
Happy day to everyone. :)
