Having Dan around has resulted in a whole new Doob. He's still sleeping in our room on his mattress (even Dan couldn't convince him to sleep in his own bed once he got a taste of being so near) but the tantrums have completely 100% stopped. He's a delight now, happy, amenable, eating well and generally the loving Doob we're used to.

Letting him sleep in my room helped a lot, but the difference in him now that Dan is here is just remarkable. He really loves him, is really attached, and I think he just really missed him when he was gone.

And I'm a different mom now, too. I'm not mentally exhausted with trying to deal with him. I enjoy his company and we laugh together. We went to the library this morning, singing on the way. I pointed out all the sights (mailbox, gnomes, lighthouse, motorcycle, fire hydrant.) We discussed whether we should feel sorry for the giant in "Jack and the Beanstalk." We went to the ice cream shop and looked at the ice cream, but when we didn't buy any that was just fine. Same thing with not buying any toys or treats at the grocery store.

We stopped by the garden fountain on the way home and Doob touched the water. "Look Mommy! Money!"

"Oh, no Doo, we can't take that. That's someone's wish that they threw into the fountain."

"Can I have money to make a wish in the fountain?"

"Sure Doo-bear. Here's a penny."

*plink*

"What did you wish for Doo?"

"I wished for, um...a baby sister."

*MELTS* "What a great wish, Dooby! I think it's going to come true, too."

"Yeah, and if another someone comes along and takes out the money he'll say no no no, that's my wish that I threw into the water and it has to stay there."

*happy sigh* So all is well now. They're in the basement watching "The Jungle Book" and in another 1/2 hour I think we're going to head to North Bar for some sand and sun.

We come home Thursday. My mom returns Friday. My sister and Australian cousin are up Friday, too. My dad returns Sunday. Should be a busy weekend and then everything will be normal again on Monday. :)

family, baby love, kaden
