That Was The Weekend That Was

Friday, Dec. 11 -- Over to a friend's house for TV binge watching.  I'm going to have to cut back on the number of shows I follow.  Caught up on Agents of Shield and Flash.  My laptop is growing wonky and I can't connect to Netflix, where I was trying to get caught up on season one of Gotham.

Saturday, Dec. 12 -- There was an SCA event in Buffalo, but my wife and I didn't feel up to going so we slept in.  Usual errands done in early afternoon, then off to Amherst for the Blacksmith Christmas party.  I showed off the deer antler that I found on my property.  One hunter said I need to wait for snowfall and follow the deer tracks.  If I have a 'good scratching tree' in my woods, I could harvest half a dozen antlers a year.  I also brought in the mystery item from my father's workshop.  They say it's essentially an axle.  The holes are to bolt it down to a surface, one 'wheel' is for the fan belt to connect it to the motor and set it to spinning.  The other 'wheel' should come off with a little lube and that's where I mount the disc sander, wire wheel, polishing stone or whatever I want to work with.  We brought a califlower/potato combination to the potluck, about half of the dishes were some form of potato.  Someone brought nearly ten pounds of delicious ham and left without it, so folks were dividing it up to take home.  We had our c&p with ham for dinner Sunday.  Crashed at mother's house.

Sunday, Dec. 13 -- Went to visit mother.  "You said you weren't coming for two weeks!"  "Umm, yeah, Thanksgiving was two weeks ago." We found her the ceramic Christmas tree and nativity scene she wanted, but both of them are too big to display in her room.  She'll talk with staff to see if either can be displayed up high out of reach in public.  There's a few folks there with mental disabilities that will take anything not nailed down.  I think one of them actually took #5 ball from the pool table.   Back home to do puttering around the house.
