That Was The Weekend That Was

I'd like to gloss over the last two weeks.  Suffice that my leg has been bothering me and I haven't been doing my best at work.  However, a few items of note:

Tuesday: Dinner at JoJo's Asian Food, near Lilydale.  Literally a mom and pop restaurant, they serve Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai food.  Excellent!  Review for my website shortly.

I had Friday off as an Indian holiday.  I took Thursday off as well to make it a four day weekend to get mother's house on the market among other things.  We did NOT make it to War Practice. :(

Thursday: I spent most of the day in clinics and hospitals getting prodded and poked. My infected leg should have been completely healed by now, but it's still slightly swollen, slightly red and slightly itchy.  I've been ultrasounded, no blood clots. They think it's slow to heal because I have poor circulation.  I have poor circulation because I haven't been getting enough exercise.  I haven't been getting exercise because for four and a half of the last six weeks, the leg has been to painful to stand on!  Now they want me tested for sleep apnea because of the poor circulation.

Lunch at Kiss BBQ on Route 20 in Westfield  Dear Ghods!  When pigs die, their dream of heaven is that their corpse will make it to Kiss BBQ where they will be slow roasted on premises, marinated in homemade BBQ sauce, served with homemade chips and homemade coleslaw and savored to the last morsel of their existence. Definitely a review in the near future. Sandwiches were $8 but had nearly a pound of pork.

Friday: Before we left for Buffalo, I spent 90 minutes at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds county-wide garage sale.  I could easily have spent the entire weekend.  I'm convinced that if I had a roll of 100's, a flat-bed truck to haul everything, the room at my place, and the time (Dear ghods, the time!) that I could drive away from this huge flea market with the manuals, the tools and parts to assemble a custom built car from scratch. There was a 1937 Willy that was left in a barn in 1940 and only found last year.  Do you know what 75 years of rat's nests and rat poop smells like???  And people crowded around it wishing they had the bucks to buy it and repair it.

My purchases were more reasonable.  I bought a floral themed hat for my mother and some blacksmith smelting tools for me.  I swear this summer, I'm going to smelt.

Arriving in Buffalo, we bought bunches of totes from Valu. My wife started sorting my mother's clothes from the closet. Literally 40 years of fashions.  I spent most of the time getting stuff out of storage, one car load at a time and moving it to the basement.  I found the nativity scene mother wanted last Christmas.  I managed to half-empty the storage on Friday and Saturday.  I'm hoping to completely empty it this coming weekend so we don't have to pay anymore.

Saturday: Dinner at Scharf's Restaurant.  I actually went to high school with the owner. This was our first visit to his new location.  Excellent German food, live German band.  Don't go for quiet dining.  This is a place to drink beer, cheer with the band and be rowdy.  Review to follow.

Sunday: Still in Buffalo, we spent the morning doing the laundry and the afternoon visiting mother.  She loves her floral hat.
