That Was The Weekend That Was

Prior to Thursday TLDR; someone at work tried to set me up to make me look bad.  It backfired.  The CFO is now extremely impressed with me! :)

Thursday: We had a water problem at work.  Everyone was dismissed at 3PM.  At quarter after three my boss sticks his head in my office.  "You know you can go home now, right?"  Me: "No!  This is the perfect time to run all the diabetic reports.  Everyone is off the system and no ones going to complain that I'm bogging down the system.  My boss thinks about this for a minute, realizes I'm right. "Go for it!"  My boss now thinks I'm a dedicated employee.

TLDR; Financial years run April 1 to March 31.  Because of the backfire and the Diabetic reports run early, ALL of my financial reports were done and in superiors hands by April 3rd.  I'm literally a week ahead of schedule at this point.  I'm looking golden!

I had to bake the traditional lamb cake.  We ran out of flour and finished with coconut flour.  Our oven conked out.  So we asked a friend for the use of their oven.  Because of the coconut flour, it didn't rise.  We had to have the lamb on her back.

Friday: I had the day off from work.  We tried to run errands.  Unfortunately, EVERYONE ELSE was taking the day off as well, bank, library, recycle, bottle return, photocopy, laundry, etc.  We got the grocery shopping done, that was it.

Saturday: The one Catholic Church in town had their blessing of the baskets today only.  I remember when people and baskets filled the entire church in Buffalo.   In Fredonia, I counted nine baskets, including one child's with nothing but colored eggs, candy and butter lambs.  We gathered in a classroom.  The light panel was something out of NASA so we all sat by the windows.  When the priest came in and turned on the lights, I called out Fiat Lux! ("Let there be light!" in Latin).  An older priest who didn't understand classical Latin???

We were supposed to meet a friend in Buffalo for burgers and beer.  She dropped machinery on her foot and has to stay home.  So, we did a bit of puttering, and then left for Buffalo to crash at mother's house.

Sunday: We took my mother to church.   After church, back to to the nursing home for the Easter 'dinner'.  Dinner was at noon and over by 1PM.  My mother kept all the chocolates and candies and we took back the lamb cake.  Her brother threw together a basket with everything still in the wrapper and had it blessed because he assumed that I would not carry out my responsibilities.  I am sick and tired of discourtesy passed off as 'I meant well!'  That man can rile me like no one else.

We went back to mother's house to pack.  I laid down for five minutes that lasted four hours.  I have the flu!  I'm running a temp of 102, I'm shivering in a warm room, all my muscles ache, I'm sweating thru my underwear and the sheets.  We slowly made our way home.  I collapsed into bed.

Monday: I did not have the strength to get out of bed.  My wife called me in sick to work and I stayed 15 hours in bed.

house, easter, nursing home, mother, sick, holidays, twtwtw
