Saw the new Three Musketeers movie today. Definitely a good, fun movie (regardless of what the critics think). Definitely based on the book, but heavily modified by a pseudo-Steampunk air (or whatever you would call the aesthetic of steampunk but without the steam and almost 200 years early). They are either absolutely planning on a sequel (which is kind of odd, considering how non-saturating it's initial release is - Paranormal 3, and even Johnny English Reborn, is getting more screens per theater, though it may be a closer thing than that with the 3D and 2D screenings combined ...) or the ultimate "pyrrhic victory" ending in modern times ...
As really cool as the sword-fighting scenes were (at least when I wasn't comparing the moves to The Matrix, or judging which stunts were done for their effect in 3D (which I missed, having watched the 2D version, but which were often painfully obvious)), I'll bet I'd have enjoyed them more if I'd seen it with the Tadcaster contingent (I am not absolutely aware of there being a Tadcaster outing to the movie, but come on: if there *isn't* one, then something is really wrong with the world ...).
