I really want a selective laser sintering printer. I was lucky enough to catch the second episode of the current This Old House project, the house model for which was built by a sintering laser printer, and they demonstrated the process: I was aware of sintering, but not that the technology has advanced to the point where not only can you build the whole model at once - without assembly - but you can add color as well. The result is still just plastic, but these are the first steps toward the matter compilers in the Diamond Age.
