Sometimes I deliberately don't turn on the A/C and let my house get like a sweatbox. Then I start to sweat, my clothes stick to me, my hair is plastered to the back of my neck, and the sensation is akin to being in a sauna. I like it. I like the summer time. Even though the sun is dangerous at high noon, I sometimes like the dizzy, almost hallucinatory sensation of the heat rays coming up in waves off the surface of the earth.
I saw The Day after Tomorrow yesterday. Typical disaster flick. But aside from the warnings of global warming and we should do something about the enviroment message the severe weather scenes were just beautiful. Back in 1983 a hurricane blew into Houston. I remember it perfectly because it hit a few days before I was supposed to start high school. I remember the wind, the rain, the uprooting of the trees, and I couldn't help but stand at the window the entire time watching how nature bashed itself to pieces against man's structures. Afterwards my friend and I walked through our neighborhood and the debris scattered everywhere was surreal.
Okay then. I think I'll slather on some organic mud, stand outside, and let the sun bake me a few shades darker. Cheerio!
