munchkin-bound

well, well, well, what have we here. yep, yet another knitting project.

i know, you're thinking - wait, didn't you say a mere 2 posts ago that you were retiring from knitting for other people's kidlings? well, this is different. i have my own munchkin-in-progress to knit for now. estimated due date: april 3.

the yarn i used was a gift from ambyguity all the way back in july 2005. i figured it was a good amount to make a baby item, but i couldn't give such a lovely gift away to someone else as a gift. as soon as i found out i was expecting, i began plotting a project with it, though.

yarn: manos cotton stria
pattern: sweater = duo from knitty, by kristi porter. short sleeve version. some modifications made (body knit in stockinette instead of garter, portion before armholes knit in the round).
hat = beret pattern, previously knit in this post
needle: shit, i have become bad about recording/remembering these details. i will consult my notes and perhaps make edits, but for now, my best recollection is:
sweater = # 6 or 7 denise for ribbing, #8 for body / beret = #6 dpns for ribbing, #6 or 7 denise for body
notes: hat knit in round. striping pattern random in order to use teh amounts i had left of the yarn. i did fairly well on that front. sweater knit in stockinette rather than garter, and bottom of body before armholes was knit in the round.

some details shots:
boatneck.
i used the same buttons i got in mexico that i used on the star sweater for zoe

top of the beret:

underside:

we're not going to find out the gender, but, contrary to the opinion of some of the knitters in my group, i think this outfit is gender neutral.
