1) i picked up my ring in the city on saturday, and dan really likes it. i ordered it without him. i originally was on a research-only mission, but this ring was simple but unique, and matched my one-of-a-kind e-ring amazingly well. and the saleswoman was kind of high-pressure. i ended up caving.
2) we may have found our officiant. he's a stranger we met this weekend at a grateful dead tribute project. for those of you who don't know, i am marrying a Deadhead. actually, this is actually just the kind of random connection that would work for me and dan. the
american beauty project took place at the world financial center in manhattan this weekend. i went into mannhattan earlier to pick up my ring and have lunch with a friend. i also arrived at the show early and got us seats. so, in our seats before the show, i showed dan the ring. and we were talking with another friend, and somehow mentioned we don't have the officiant sorted out yet (working idea = get someone we know ordained). PotentialOfficiant is sitting to our left and mentioned he's ordained. we get to talking a bit with him. he got married 23 years ago and actually invited Jerry Garcia to his wedding. that's actually a cool touch (for the curious, Jerry responded with a no, signature, and "thank you".) PotentialOfficiant also mentioned he always includes a line from a Dead song in his ceremonies. anyway, the guy seems cool, we have his contact info, and we're seriously considering it.
3) i bought envelopes for the invites at a big specialty paper/envelope store. now i have nothing holding me back but myself in getting the invites designed and moving on with it. gotta get on it.
