january/february involved several trips but little time to catch up and sort through pictures, much less post them. not only am i done with traveling for awhile, but the camera disc with mexico pictures got fried (insert big sadface here), so i have time to go through the backlog.
this is a view of downtown from my sister's balcony.
i always describe houston as a concrete jungle, so it was my mission to capture just that.
there are parts of the city where the highways are stacked several on top of each other, and i drove my sister and dad a bit mad when i got really snap happy as they were driving.
note how grey it was for many of my pictures.
these were taken on my way to the airport. it was beautiful and blue-skied that day.
i went to houston at the end of january for some 30th birthday activities; several friends from high school were gathered there for the weekend. the most formal occasion of the weekend was jill & her mom's joint 30th/60th birthday celebration. the invitation called for western wear, of which i don't have much of, but the true houstonites who attended certainly complied. also, there were cowboy hat dish-bowls.
they got m&ms custom printed with "jill is 30" and "fran is 60":

in a rare lapse, i actually photographed something animate. my friend daphna's kid is a real cutie. and she was wearing the cutest cupcake shoes, which matched the dress i had knit her. the dress is still a bit big on her.
