Mom, Dad, Emma and I went with Aaron to see the LA Master Chorale performance of the Haydn Maria Theresa Mass and Five Marian Songs by Gorecki, which were beautiful and in the style I like (kind of a muted Lauridsen acapella style...the composer is Polish and either living still or recently passed), as well as a couple short two-choir pieces by Schumann (before he went mad, Gershon said). We ran into Grandma Connie who was there with Grandpa Ted. Bev Hanson and Tom Strout were also in attendance. The Concert Hall is fantastic, and I hardly believe any of the more expensive seats (we were in the upper Terrace on the West side of the hall) sounded any better than it did for us. Grant Gershon certainly is an exciting conductor. It was only about half of the Chorale, GC said...about 60 voices. I had no idea there were even more! A nice night, preceded by a delicious and filling genuine Chinese dinner at a real Chinese restaurant near my apartment.

My surgery is scheduled for April 24, so that's coming up, but I'm glad I'm going to get it out of the way. Aaron said at least two people are planning on leaving in the office in the next couple months, meaning two spots will be opening. I have every intention of snagging one of them upon my recuperation. This is very good news indeed.
