Near and Far Destinations

This year (well next year technically) I have decided I am going to take a real holiday.  Not just take some time off and sit around the house or the like, but actually go somewhere I haven't been before, and have a good time doing it.

The things that come to mind are New Zealand to go skiiing and the Northern Territory to see Kakadu, Uluru etc.  Both of them appeal to me, but seem to be polar opposites really.  I've never seen snow, so going skiing in New Zealand is a big first step, but it's a case of why do it here, when going over there is almost as cheap, and much more interesting.

The other thing I really want to do is see some of Australia.  I've barely seen any of it, never having been outside of NSW or QLD, so it's about time I actually went somewhere and saw some of the things I'm dying to see.  I guess it's the side of me that has always been drawn to natural beauty.  But whatever it is, it's something I've been dying to do for a long time now.  Somehow though, I think this would end up costing even more than going to New Zealand, which I find kind of amusing :)

Oh well, plenty of time to ponder yet...
