To summarize this picture... Both Theists and Atheists know some things, but the scope of their knowledge is a drop in the bucket compared to what they don't know. Theists try to expand their knowledge by using god as an explanation for the unexplainable, whereas Atheists can give you a best guess but generally will admit that they have no idea. Theists also like to use circular logic in justifying their god, sometimes using well understood scientific phenomena incorrectly. The goal of Theists is to point out the vast amount of unknown shit to the Atheists in an attempt to make the Theists seem smarter or more enlightened about the world in some way. The goal of Atheists is to not give a shit about the Theists, but to let the Theists know that they don't give a shit. Atheists also like to make fun of the Theists because they are wasting their time trying to talk to an invisible man who created a race of visible people in his image.
After posting this, I feel I must also mention that NEITHER SIDE IS BETTER. Either way we don't fucking know 99% of the shit that's out there. With religion, you can talk yourself into feeling better about dying and seeing your grandparents and believe that life has some higher purpose. With Atheism, you just realize that while we find ourselves pretty groovy, we really aren't the dogs bollocks. We're neato, but not nearly the shiznit enough to need a whole universe or a whole god.
As far as the presentation goes... It went well. I won't know their decision until they meet next month, which is actually better than expected. I at least know that they have no issue at all with the height of the structure, they only have one real problem and that is that its bigger than the 64 square feet that they currently have as an unwritten rule. 64 square feet is very arbitrary, though, and they recently approved an enclosure that is 70 square feet, though the guy did fib a bit and say his "design goal" was 64 square feet, and failed to mention that his design was slightly larger than his goal. Anyway...
The president of the club said that the site has approved "permanent observatory" sites that I may be able to build on, and he is going to look into that for me. So it looks as if I have at least a few different options. I'll write more on the subject when I know more.
On a totally unrelated topic, I think I should go into politics. CRAZY. Here's the deal... People aren't stupid, they're just fucking ignorant and don't give enough of a shit to actually investigate what the hell is going on around them. They're afraid of shit that doesn't affect them, they are afraid of change without even looking into what the change entails, and they make rash decisions based upon stereotypes and generalizations. Maybe I shouldn't be in politics, maybe I should just be a dictator.
