While I was figuring out which charity to donate to, I came across the following site:
World Community Grid
Anyone who's got a semi-decent computer who wants to do something to help out with causes, I highly suggest checking this out. Anyone familiar with SETI@Home will be familiar with the concept; basically, it uses system resources that your computer is not using (and thus is idle, even if you are using said computer) to work toward humanitarian projects...in WCG's case, it's toward one of four. FightAIDS@Home, the Human Proteome Folding Phase 2, Help Defeat Cancer, and Genome Comparison. You can select all of them or any number of them. A well-worthwhile task.
