Took the Amelia and Nefret to the vet for their annual exam and rabies shots. Also got them microchipped, which is required if we ever move to Japan or many other places. Assuming the bloodwork comes back okay then they are fine, except that Nefret should gain some weight and Amelia should lose some. That's going to be a bit of a trick ( Read more... )

The vet got the pathologists report back today. Turns out Emerson the cat does have cancer, as we suspected. It was a rare type whose name I did not write down, although I think I remember it had "angio" and "derm" in it. Doc said the "angio" part is because it goes after blood vessels. I went in to check on Emerson and give him his antibiotics. It took me half an hour to clean up all the blood. He must be feeling a little better than I though he would, since he managed to jump into the bathtub (which at least is easy to clean) and on top of the litter box hood. We took Emerson the cat to the vet this morning, and it turns out he is quite sick. He has some sort of large growth or something on his belly, either a tumor or some kind of big infection, they are running tests to figure out what it is. In the meantime they have dosed him with two kinds of antibiotics, put a drain in to let it drain out some, ( Read more... )
