Boring post alert!

This is a boring update. This is what happens when you become a home owner. I will make is as excited as possible, but let’s face it, boilers blowing up aren’t that exciting unless they literally blow up.

So, Sunday before last my Dad tries his hand at being a plumber. We’d got a heated towel rail to snazz the bathroom up a little bit. Adam and Dad managed to hang it, and it looked awesome, but couldn’t fit it so it didn’t leak. In the end Dad came back to try and finish the job off and, to cut a DAY LONG story short, he managed to snap the pipe, flood the bathroom, and sever his thumb in the process. The place looked like a warzone, water gushing out all over the bathroom, hundreds of towels and toilet rolls completely soaked, dad covered in blood with a chunk of his thumb hanging off…. So we drained the central heating system to stop the leak, and called an emergency plumber to come out first thing on Monday.

So.

When we come to repressurize the boiler (you see, I not only know what that means now but also know how to do it) something has broken inside the boiler and it is basically kaput.

The plumber who came on Monday didn’t manage to fix it, he also didn’t manage to fix the radiator even though he said he had - still leaking. Someone came round on Wednesday - still no further on with the boiler, again said they’d fixed the radiator - still leaking. Basically repeat this pattern until Friday. Friday we were at Matt and Donna’s wedding in Rawmarsh/Barnsley all day. So we gave them the key. Got a phonecall at the wedding saying some of the new parts we’d bought were now deemed faulty. He had fixed the radiator though, bonus.

We got home at about 11.30pm to find not only was the radiator a complete sham (he’d used copper piping instead of the chrome we’d asked for, taken huge chunks out of the plaster which we’d have to paint over etc) but also left the back door unlocked. So by this point we’re generally really annoyed and rang them and told them to call it a day and bring the key back, which they didn’t like. Now we’ve got someone from Worcester coming on Saturday, and as they make the boiler, hopefully they’ll have a vague idea of what they’re doing. One can hope.

So yeah, apart from boiler woes, things have been pretty awesome. Adam and I went to Matt’s wedding, Liz came too, had a great day and really enjoyed it. Adam looked very smart and handsome in his new shirt and tie. It was also Adam’s birthday a couple of weeks ago and we had a great time, we went to the Laughing Buddha in Didsbury for a delicious meal with some friends and had a real giggle. Next is my birthday, Yey! We’ve got a week off together, we had a week off together back in May but were moving that week so we didn’t get to do any fun stuff, so it’s looking quite exciting!
