A History of David Mercer cassiopaya April 10 2010, 04:32:11 UTC
Oh! I love this question! My Mercer is a Jew from London and comes from a family of textile merchants, hence the name Mercer, and young David Mercer was forced into the army by his parents. He was a hoodlum. In the army he learned discipline and how to kill. When I look at Mercer's body movements in the film when he is in public he has this very military bearing. Then he went too far once (got caught) and got himself court-martialed and sentenced to hang. (I have yet to work out the details, but I believe I'm going to set that story in India.) Anyway, Beckett is a young clerk (or something) in the EITC and has know Mercer in a kid of acquaintance way for some time and he figures he could use a guy like Mercer...if only he could figure out a way to ensure that Mercer doesn't kill him. (And he totally does, btw.) So then he rescues Mercer and binds him to him and they make merry mayhem in the EITC. ^_^

Another work in progress that needs to be added to my very long fan-fiction 'must read' list.

I still have to finish my Alternate fic on How Mercer Met Beckett. It's the one where Mercer is a werewolf.

Werewolves, werewolves, werewolves!

My Mercer (Christian name of Joseph) is from Manchester, as his accent dictates. Probably from a large lower middle class family who are slightly eccentric. For some reason I don't see his parents ever really having much control over the kids and I see him as a middle child so often lost in the melee and allowed to basically do as he pleased ( ... )

As stated before about education - he probably received a minimal one locally in Manchester before he scooted out of there before it could claim his soul ;P From then on I think he learned things as he worked as well as furthering his own education by himself. He strikes me as a naturally inquisitive, if quiet about it, man who would be well read enough, for one of his station, but would never really brag about it or mention it. I think his breadth of knowledge increased after he began working for Beckett since he would have had access to his master's library. Street knowledge though - I could see him trumping everyone. :D ( ... )

aww why thank you. I really just write for Mercer, Beckett's an optional extra xD (like God and the Church of England).

I'll see if anything comes up, my fanfic writing has largely died down. On to original stuff and such ;P
