I finally have the chance to make my contributions for customer-suckage....hmmmm where to start. I've been working at Blockbuster in the ghetto part of my city since around Spetember....
a few weeks ago, my co-worker Shane was working by himself from 9-5 and a customer came in DEMANDING a refund for about 12 previously viewed movies she purchased, claiming she didn't like them or something so she had a right to get her money back....Shane was dumbfounded, but refused. She started yelling and complaining. (We have a no-refund policy. We do our damndest to give as few refunds as possible, and in return, we exchange movies instead.) He offered to exchange them all for something else and yet she still insisted she had to have a refund. (Forgot that the movie money was really your crack money and had to get your fix on?) She started freaking out, telling her kids to tear apart the whole store....putting rentals in the retail section, previously viewed in the rental/retail section, mixing up all the alphabetical retail movies, etc. and it wasn't until then that he decided to call up the regional manager to ask for advice...
he told Shane to GIVE HER the refund. she got her 100+ dollars back and left. LEFT EVERYTHING IN CHAOS! I got there like an hour after she left and was PISSED. Shane had left all of that mess for me and my other manager to fix up for SIX hours. SIX! Plus, it was a monday...if you know blockbuster, on monday's we have to set up the backer cards throughout the day for the movies that come out the following morning, and on monday nights after the store closes, we have to prepare the whole damn wall, the racks, the coming soon wall, etc. So with all that bullshit AND it being a monday evening? we were sooooo heated.....How could someone be such a pushover, being a manager and all? the idiot used to be an ASSISTANT manager.
