Wait, one of them was Christian? Where does that logic come from? "I'm not supposed to practice this, but my religion isn't working, so let me manipulate someone else's for my own selfish purposes."

i hate to break this to you. but of all the folks who ever asked us for "spells" or etc, i would say about 60% of them self identify as "Christian". most of the people who are from religions that practice spell craft wouldnt be asking us for a spell, they would just walk in and ask for ingredients or a book.

i cant count how many people who told me they were "devout Christians" came in asking for things to get rid of demons, also....

*headesk as well* My deepest apologies for my fellow Christians; clearly, they don't realize that the "Holy Spirit" could be channeled through the right prayers.

Though...personally...I think if one could come up with "Christian spells"...ah, nevermind...

fortunately i know many many good ones! in fact i was raised Episcopalian and am now Catholic.....
but.. umm. yeah.. i cant really count how many people said "i am christian" and then were asking me for stuff that i would THINK their own religion would cover.
like banishing evil spirits...
house blessings
protections
etc

i mean i "get" that your Christian religion doesnt teach you how to steal someone's spouse. but you know... neither does Wicca or any other reputable Pagan religion.....
sigh

Really? Hmmm...those kind of spells sounds like cool stuff to try, actually--and pratical, to boot. Thank you! <3 *goes off to do research*

there already are Christian . well. "spells" for all of that.

banishing evil spirits? house blessings? protections? no problem, there are plenty of instructions in the Bible... prayers and psalms to read... holy water..bells... cleaning.. recommended herbs (hyssop, frankincense, myrrh, aloe) blessing and anointing psalms and prayers. and then placing a Holy symbol near the door.
not to mention blessing yourself on your "going out and coming in"

there is a decent web comic , sadly rarely up dated. "o my Goddess" i think... its about a bunch of folks running a pagan shop
"neo aquarious and all the planets"

What folklore is that? Have you a link or book title?

(*collects folklore*)

I have a couple of friends who practice various things, and I've always felt sorry for them when that sort of thing comes up. "Can't you make her father think it's all right that his young teenage daughter live with twenty-someodd-year-old me?" "Can't you put out his brakes or something?" "She left me, can't you make her come back?"

Clearly, those folks either don't read enough fantasy novels to get the idea that there are LIMITS to magical thing--or have been reading too much.

Either that, or they've been watching too much Buffy...or playing KH...

Well. This is assuming that they even know how to read...

sadly? many of them have been listening to the propaganda against magic by some of the hyper "Christian" preachers (and i put that in quotes for a reason)

you know the ones who claim satanic conspiracies behind everything, etc? well its the same old same old guys. if you tell the people that "all magic is satanic" and you tell the folks that "Satan is very powerful and can warp peoples minds and make them do bad stuff, etc" then when they want a person's mind changed.. YOU have just told them where to go.

and then WE have to deal with it.

no love
