Apparently, it was Bad Liar night the student loan call center.
We get lied to a lot, it's expected because they really don't want to deal with us, but seriously people, if you're going to lie, at least make it believable.
Called a man (we'll call him Jose) who was the cosigner on the loan about an issue with the account. Am halfway through leaving a message when he picks up and throws an almighty bitch fit about how we need to delete his number because we're calling him too much and driving him crazy.* Goes on in this vein for about 5 minutes before I am able to tell him what the problem is, and what can be done about it. He then suddenly says he has to get in the shower and hangs up.
*Major suck: shut up and listen to me because I am not a telemarketer; you made a business agreement with us and there is a problem.
Half an hour later, my supervisor calls him back. A woman picks up, and says Jose isn't there. M points out that we just spoke to him. Then, "Well, he's here, but he doesn't speak English. **click**"
Well, isn't that funny, because I was just speaking to him, in English, not that long ago, and aside from a rather thick accent it was better than some native speakers I know.
