In the past few days there have been a small number of covid-19 cases detected on the island - and whilst 3 were easily accounted for, 6 new ones are not - they are not people who have been off-island and are in quarantine, nor are they known contacts of the person who tested positive 3 days after completing their 14 days quarantine. So they are in the community and of unknown origin.
This is disappointing as we have been declared covid-free in the community since late May, but we always knew it was likely to happen.
But there is no pussy-footing around from our government with tier this or that; they met all afternoon and declared at 5.30pm that we are going into a 3 week lockdown starting tomorrow. Generally we are all in agreement with this. We know what needs doing, we have done it before and, as my niece has just said in a message, much better 3 weeks now than 3 months in a couple of weeks time. Also, of course, we are in a better place, mentally, than so many others as we have had such a normal life since June, and so we do not have the lockdown fatigue felt by so many.
I imagine this may mean that D-d's house move will be delayed - it is doubtless up to both the advocates and the removal firm, but I guess the advocates can work from home but it is unlikely the removal guys will be working. I have simply sent a message saying we are here to help however we can.
In the meantime, I will just join
manoah, and abide.
On the bright side I have just been sent some video of our Nativity Service - I will try to get it here in the next couple of days - it's not like I'll have much else to do :(
