What's so special about Sprinkles?

I admit, the Sprinkles cupcakes (such as the cupcakes in my icon) intrigue me. I've never had one (I don't live anywhere close to CA), but I do hope to try them someday. Until that day comes, in the meantime I'm wondering - what's so special about them? Do they taste different? How do they make the icing look so perfect? Does anyone have any ( Read more... )

We got an assorted box for our coworkers birthday. I like some of their flavors... and not others. I like the texture of the cake but there is a LOT of butter-ness... and the frosting is too much for me.

And they are expensive.

Honestly its all about location... they are in Bev. Hills next to the big fancy designers... The line stretching outside adds to the mystique. Its like a club. Everyone sees the line and says "ooh, they must be good."

They are good... but not any better than any other bakery.

can you imagine what the rent must be? I am sure that is a lot of the price, as well.

That's how I feel about Magnolia. The line is always long, there's all this hype, but I was still unimpressed with the cupcake I got there, and especially unimpressed with their variety.

I hate to agree as well. Magnolia isn't anything but ordinary, sometimes dry cupcakes. They're not even enclosed, so they're always exposed to other peoples hands, the constant door opening and closing.

I went to Crumbs- with no line- and the cupcakes were amazing. I wouldn't go back to Magnolia unless they were giving cupcakes away.

Definitely! My only (only!) issue with Crumbs was how huge the cupcakes are. Granted I got there at the end of a loooong day of tasting and rating cupcakes all over Manhattan. My friend and I split one and we were still barely able to finish it!
