strawberry vanilla cupcakes!
having a dinner party (!!!) tonight...that makes me feel old.
i saw this awesome box of gourmet cupcake mix at world market and bought it--it has mix for chocolate caramel cupcakes, strawberry vanilla cupcakes and lemon poppyseed cupcakes. the cupcakes turned out great. very moist and a great crumb. the frosting was not so great. it called for 3/4 cup of the frosting mix and 4 tbsp of shortening. the frosting turned out like a very dry..dough of some kind. it was crumbly and dry and not like a frosting in the least. i threw it away and just made a vanilla buttercream. colored it pink with a wilton's rose gel, decorated with some of the BAJILLION sprinkles that i own. my boyfriend has put me on sprinkle hiatus and i am not allowed to buy any more for a while. boo.
