January 6, 2007
Right now, folks in Fairbanks, Alaska are experiencing the darkest days of winter- the coldest too (it's 32 degrees BELOW zero). All week long I've felt compelled to clean, organize and purge. I'm not sure if this is due to the fact that we are stuck inside so much, or because we just started a new year, or maybe I am "nesting" (we are expecting a new grandbaby next week). Since our granddaughters (twins) just turned two, I have had to further "baby proof" our home. We have too much STUFF! Clutter drives me crazy so I'm going to box up a bunch of items: old VHS tapes, outgrown winter gear, broken appliances (that are stuffed in the back of the pantry and will never get repaired). Just thinking about this task makes me feel more at peace with myself.
I watched "From Trash to Treasure" today and got a few really good ideas. Home improvement is such a gratifying pasttime, this usually acts as a great creative outlet for me. Writing has always been another favorable release. I am a lover of words. The kids hate it when I tell them to "look it up." When they ask "why" they have to know what a word means, my response is always (because) "WORDS ARE POWER." This year, I resolve to write more often.
Something else I'd like to accomplish is a better understanding of computers. I'll start with trying to post a picture of me with the grandkids:
Never mind! Maybe I should ask my kids how to do this?
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY.
