Aqua Zumba and a smidge of tv chatter

Remember a few years ago where I was blogging about trying fitness classes? Surely you remember the story where I knocked down the balance balls? I can't find the link but trust me, it was a thing. I'm not a class kind of person. I do well on a stationary bike or a treadmill. I love playing volleyball and every now and then I run outside (rarely, but it happens.) I tried aqua zumba because I needed something that I wouldn't feel self conscience doing. Most people know me as outgoing, happy, and not at all shy or insecure, but hey, just like everyone, I do have my limits. This is a very fitness geared place. It's not the military members, it's the spouses. These women or serious about whatever it is they do, so yeah, I can't just walk into some class and try it out.

Aqua Zumba gives the anonymity I need. It's in the water so no one can see how absurd I look. And if they're in the class with me, well, there's just no way to do this and look cool. ;) To the point though,  I love it! The instructor is this Japanese woman who looks like a 12 year old boy with a Bieber cut. But she's always smiling and she makes us laugh while we're doing our ridiculous routines.  She teaches the class from out of the water, which always makes me a little concerned and a little bit excited. She likes to show us these fancy steps on the narrow ledge of the pool. I just know she's gonna fall in! So far she hasn't, but you better believe that's one thing that keeps me going to the class. If she's gonna fall, I wanna be there.

The whole idea of the class is a little absurd. I mean, you cannot dance in the water like you can dance on solid ground. I spent the first two classes getting the steps down and I'm still trying to get the timing down since the water resistance makes the steps almost impossible. But it's fun and I love going so much that I wish it was offered more than twice a week. Yay me!

We're finishing up Spartacus Blood and Sand and really, I don't love it. It's much more a Cheyenne show then a me show. But he watches Off the Map with me (which he says is the dumbest show on the planet and apparently they handle sterile gloves wrong) so I'm returning the favor. We've got two more episodes of Spartacus and I've just now decided the actor that plays Spartacus is pretty hot. Too bad he's had a relapse of cancer and won't be returning to the show.

Watching the Super Bowl episode of Glee had two effects for me. First, why can't the writers on that show get their crap together? Rachel and Puck are the bestest thing about that show these days and everyone else is making me crazy. (Blaine gets a pass, but they didn't even try to make Bills into a male version. Not that they should have, but I have a hard time believing every one of those Warblers had no problem singing a song that is a "girl's song.") Secondly, the football portion just made me miss Friday Night Lights. Coach Taylor wouldn't have those girls laying on the ground, he would have whooped those girls into at least running shape for the game. I can't wait to watch FNL all over again with Cheyenne. It's just so good.

I feel like there's a whole story about Puck teaching Rachel some football basics.

off the map, rl, glee, friday night lights
