Manic day yesterday. Personal record of spending 5 hours commuting and dashing from place to place. Most of the time was spent either on the tube or running in the tube station (no rucksack, so less suspicious? haha) from one platform to the next and jumping into the tube just before the doors shut.
Day started at 6am, with me trying to sort out all my relocation plans. Shit. 3 weeks more and I'll be gone. Sniff.... Oh yea, waited for the annoying real estate agent then went in late for class (had to wait for that idiot!). Was totally bored in class, plus I ended up sitting next to M coz it was the only place left. Sigh! I got home, then my bro decides to tell me that he needs to pass me his spare keys, so I have to trek all the way back across town to meet him. That's when I realised I didn't know where his office was, despite him having been there about a year. Doh! I remembered his old office, but had no clue as to where his "new" office was. After much running around on the streets, I finally found him. Dashed to Heathrow to pick up my mum and we got back into central London at peak hour. jeez.. worst time. People don't want to MOVE to let you off the tube. I swear, I was so tempted to bash the suitcase into this guy's leg coz he ignored me despite me saying, "Excuse me" many times, very loudly.
Got home, then grabbed my climbing shoes and made my way across town yet again. It's become so automatic for me to go climbing every week that I don't even stop to think about it. It was only when I had reached the other side of town and was walking from the tube station to the climbing gym that I realised how exhausted I was. But since I was already there...
Guess it's quite easy to recognise me. Or maybe I'm just so blur that I don't recognise ppl. The reception guy at the climbing gym recognised me from the bouldering competition over the weekend. Out of 300+ people. Wow. I don't even remember if he was climbing or judging or doing the shoe demo. The traverse wall problems have been changed round, so I had something new to work out. Did a bit more bouldering than usual too.. I tried a sit-start problem and it wasn't as bad as the competition one.. I think it was the combo of sit-start followed by heel hook that I can't do. Oddly enough, the blue route felt easier than the green. I got D to show me that pink rooster 4c corner problem that he'd recommended to me.. and I've decided that I probably wouldn't do that anytime soon. It's a lanky problem. :P Tried to teach R to get up a bouldering problem on green... without cheating. To no avail. Ah well.
D made me lead climb some more, but I was tired and having a "chicken" day and I didn't really make the risky moves the way I was supposed to. i.e. I cheated. At least he was vigilant enough to take in the rope before I fell. Definitely no climbing over this weekend for me (my first non-climbing weekend in quite a while).. I think it's time I rest my muscles properly, instead of aching the entire week, each week. Walking around in a perpetual haze of sore muscles leaves much to be desired. R's belaying still seems a bit dodgy, and she was climbing with M who's a lot heavier than her. I'm surprised that he didn't anchor her into the ground, but I could hear him yelling at her to get closer into the wall. She inched a LITTLE bit closer to the wall and looked like she thought it was sufficient and he was still yelling down for her to get closer.. This went on for like a minute or so, until I got fed up and yelled across the room for her to get right up against the wall and put her back against it. She doesn't seem to realise that you get pulled INTO the wall and upwards when belaying someone down. Especially if that person is heavier.. the forces pull you upwards (direction of the rope) and inwards. I learnt it the hard way: slamming into a rockface and skinning my knuckles (took a week for the skin to re-grow). Maybe I should show her my scars from that incident next week.
