TRUTH of the divine

On my search for religion and spiritualiuty, I have recently come to realize (ponder): why am i asking these questions? Why am I continually asking questions about the bible? I want to dig to the root of the beliefs and find what is true to me within them...

but what if I'm just asking questions until I find the answer I want to hear?  And if I ( Read more... )

The parable... in my opinion the guy that wasn't dressed for the wedding either was a nonbeliever because then he wouldn't know how to "dress" (believe) the way the king ("God") wants... or else he didn't atone and cleanse himself before going to heaven (didn't dress himself before the wedding)
Eh this is confusing but I think you know what I mean.

As to belief and such, I don't think you can ever force yourself to believe in something. You can make excuses and *trick* yourself into believing in something... convincing yourself it's right, but in your heart there's always going to be that doubt, you know?

I think you need to have religion or faith come to YOU. Don't feel you have to follow everything of a culture down to a T. I follow my own path and I am very happy. I think the world would be a better place without organized religion. Because everyone could follow their own way, they'd be more comfortable with themselves and with others, and we wouldn't have "wars" between the faiths.

Yes. :)

Michelle, I think that you like most of us are deeply confused about your place in the universe. I have encountered similar problems when looking for the religion that fit my personality and beliefs. The truth is we are all so different that it is difficult to find a belief system that truly embodies our own set of morals. For, me I just had to look for the religion that came the closest to my own unique set of beliefs. I have come to believe that if each person thinks about what his or her own position is in the universe each person will come up with a set of morals that is unique and, in some way, different from the morals of any other individual. I don't know if I'm making any sense so I will try to use an example. Let's say you are a devout Christian, you do what your religion tells you is true and you follow the belief system that your religion teaches. Yet, the mistakes you make and the sins you commit are unique to you. No person is perfect and we each follow separate paths. The truth is we can never know for sure that we are ( ... )

Hey michelle, its Jon Plante, Amanda's freind. Your post is in particular intrest to me because i too, like many others, cant seem to put my finger on Truth. I tried Christianity and i think the cosmos told me it wasnt for me when i was kicked out of a Christian class i was taking, when my friends funeral was on the same day; which meant i woudnt show, and that was forbidin. I really dont know too much about other beliefs, but the one thing i do know is the burning light/feeling (only way to describe it) that i feel coming from my heart that i precieve as Truth. Ultimately, of course, i cant really say what reality or truth Is, but i do know what my body, mind, and heart tell me, and so far i have not been "led astray", if you will. I believe that we ultimately need to believe in ourselves instead of looking to someone or something else. Everything in the universe had to come from something common, some like trait, like Darwin said, and that means that whatever Is out there is in me as well. So, when it comes to Higher power, ( ... )

Aaaaaay! (fonz) I don't know about a higher power, i'm not sure if it is a creator or caretaker... but could you imagine that you ARE god? Like in the matrix, if we each fully realized our potential, we could manipulate everything around us..but like, only when we wake up... I don't know, i just am thinking of stuff off the top of my head... I like to think of what ifs then the really likely or interesting ones then explore them... Even if there is no GOD there may be some cosmic force that pulls things together, i think that everything is fractal, or like, we are as cells in a body, we function together but each for our own ,means and a large group makes up an organ and lots of organs make up the organ systems then they make up the body of the universal cosmos.... we work as destiny has us because we cannot work any other way, we are all connected and I think that is the most important thing...
