Well I have to say, the trip to Germany was fantastic. The black forest is gorgeous and I think I'm in love with Freiburg. The place we'd chosen to stay was so close to the borders that we easily managed day trips into Switzerland (Basel only I'm afraid) and France (St. Louis, Mulhouse and Colmar).
