The Way A Saturday Should Be
Today I got a manicure - it was lovely. I don't often treat myself to such things, but it felt necessary today. Sometimes I entertain the thought of being one of those women that get regular manicures and pedicures. As of right now, I'm not. Today was only my second mani (yes, that would be shop talk for manicure I've learned) and I've only had one pedi - see above. I haven't decided yet if I should be a regular at the nail salon, and as it doesn't seem to be a hugely pressing issue as to the general going about of my days, I'll put that decision off til later. I did enjoy my bit of luxury today though.
I also bought some Christmas decorations today - on clearance, no less. Crazy, isn't it? It's not even Halloween yet and not only are the Christmas decorations on the shelves, but they're on sale. My other purchase today was as dvd - Mary Poppins. Mary Poppins holds a special place in my heart, and I was thrilled to see in on the shelf at Target. Until I was maybe 10 or 11, the only movie my family owned was Mary Poppins. We did not, though, own a VCR. On very special occasions, such as when a babysitter was coming, my mom would go rent a VCR - yes, rent - and we would get to watch the one movie we had. It was very exciting. Anyway...I always liked it, I still like and, and now I own it. (smile)
I did not get the job promotion I interviewed for this week, and I'm glad. The person who got it will do very well, and I would have picked her over me, too. I'm happy where I am, who I work with, and the fact that I'm a bit more free to run, as it were, with the job I have now.
