i'm feeling conversational at the moment. not that very many even come on livejournal anymore, but, oh well.

this weekend my mom came along with tina and i to look at apartments.

we saw 3 so far. the first one was gorgeous, with new windows, automatic lights in the closets, an island in the kitchen, two parking spots (one covered), and it had the same basic floorplan as my current one. there was more to it, but it was like $750, and i don't want to go too much in detail since it's probably too expensive for us anyway.

the second one was total dump. it was "modern" styled, meaning that it was built in the 60s, but it had 2 bedrooms and a living room. (besides the closet sized kitchen and bathroom.) the carpet was stained and it smelled like fishsticks. i couldn't believe they were asking $650 for it.

the third was gorgeous. it's owned by this adorable old couple who have maintained the building very well since 1976. the floorplan was very similar to mine right now, only the sunroom faces south, but there is also a balcony and carport parking. it was also $590. the only catch is that we'd have to move in by july 1st, which both of us can more than likely swing. it would suck paying rent at two places for a month, and i'm going to be SUPER poor, but worth it in the long run. they seemed very impressed that i brought my mom along too.

we're going to see two more on wednesday evening. one is on edgewater, (my most favorite building in all of lakewood). it is tudor styled, built in 1907, with ivy growing up the sides, with lead glass windows that fold out, and huge stone-arched entrances. it's $695 for a 2 bedroom. the other seems like just your average 1920s built place, but it's still worth a look.

still, i'm kind of getting my heart set on that one. it was so adorable, and the lady seemed so proud of the place, and it was just so nicely maintained. they really seemed like they loved and cared and took great pride in that building.

in other news, the mess with my landlord continues. as of now, it's been 6 1/2 months since the kitchen light started flickering whenever it rains, and he still hasn't fixed it. he also hasn't gotten rid of the mold that has formed where the roof has been leaking. i wrote him a letter on friday stating that i was no longer going to communicate with him through text messaging, and i also called him and left him a message. as of today, monday, he still hasn't called me or written or even emailed me back. he did however, call erin from a bar 3 times friday night, harrassing her, and then sending her more nasty text messages saturday morning. oh well. i postmarked the letter, and i saved 2 copies of it. he has 30 days from the date of that letter to fix the light, and if he doesn't, erin and i can legally escrow our rent with the city of lakewood until he fixes it. it's sad that it has come to this, but we have no other option. it's illegal to force a tenant to live with a dangerous electrical hazard.

it's also pretty assinine that he refuses to communicate with me about the matter in a normal way. i'm sorry, but text messages are not only unprofessional, but they are short and often very unclear, especially when he uses text message jargon. we're adults, not 15 year olds in high school.

that's about it. i did have a small party for paul's birthday. it was a lot of fun, but it was really hard to just let loose because this whole living situation is leaving me feeling incredibly anxious about everything.
