graveyards and pink flamingos

i haven't done a picture post in quite a while.

so i went with my mom to plant flowers for the summer at the graveyard a couple days ago. i took pictures mostly so my grandpa could see them, since he can't visit there himself, but i'll post them here too, because i think they're pretty.

this is the stone for my great grandparents:

my great grandmother was german, but raised in serbia before she came to the states. her father tried to marry her off to an old man for money when she was 15, so she ran away and found my great grandpa, who was much closer to her in age, and also fresh off the boat from serbia. these are my grandpa's parents.

this is my great uncle laddy, (my grandpa's little brother):

and this was my grandparents' first child (who would have been my uncle and mother's brother), baby john, who died a few hours after he was born:

we had an extra flower, and there was a stone for a girl in the baby section right next to baby john's stone that was completely overgrown with grass, so we planted it for her. it didn't look like anybody had been there to visit her for years. she lived for two days and wasn't even given a name. she also died in december of 1946, and all of the other baby stones start up again in march of 1947, so she was all by herself for a few months. i'm thinking next year we'll buy one pink flower for her.

and here they are next to each other:

in other news, yesterday was p's birthday, and i arranged for this:

it was pretty hilarious. i have an old boyfriend.
