Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4

The sound of slight snoring signalled that Kazuya had fallen asleep and Jin smiled faintly and glanced at the younger man’s silhouette. It was almost completely dark but a very dim light seeped through the crack in the boards over the window and allowed Jin to see somewhat. He turned his attention away from Kazuya to look out at the street below where dark shapes slowly passed by, letting out a groan from time to time. Jin was tempted to grab Kazuya’s katana and go out to behead all of them but he wasn’t sure if he could attack them without retribution, he hadn’t tried so far. He really was a coward, he admitted to himself.

Jin stiffened at an unfamiliar sound in the distance, at least in these times it was strange; it sounded very much like a helicopter. He confirmed that it was in fact a helicopter when the sound came nearer and soon the street below was brightly lit by the lights of the airborne vehicle. Jin mumbled a curse under his breath and worriedly looked at Kazuya to see if the younger man had woken up by the sound of the passing helicopter but the snoring continued.

During the first weeks of Jin’s presence in the house, Kazuya had woken up by every small sound but it seemed that he’d gotten more relaxed recently. Jin sighed in relief and listened to the sound of the helicopter fading out in the distance. One might think that he’d be happy to hear a helicopter as it indicated that there were other survivors out there but he knew what it really meant. They were looking for him. Of course they probably wouldn’t find him if he just stayed with Kazuya but he’d gotten used to moving around all the time to avoid being found. It wasn’t entirely unlikely that they had found some way of safely passing by zombies or they just had enough soldiers to manage.

Jin sighed tiredly and rubbed his forehead, he really hadn’t thought that finding him would be so important to them, surely they had to have others just like him. His thoughts were interrupted when Kazuya’s snores came to a stop and the man stirred in the bed.

“Jin?” Kazuya rubbed his eyes before gazing towards the window where he could see the familiar shape of the older man.

“Yeah, what’s the matter?” Jin said gently and smiled even though he knew that Kazuya wouldn’t be able to see it.

“I had a weird dream about aliens coming to abduct us”, Kazuya said groggily and Jin laughed even though it was almost true.

“No one is coming to abduct us, don’t worry.”

“I wasn’t scared at all; actually I was kind of relieved.”

Jin frowned, “Why?”

“Because at least the aliens weren’t trying to eat us”, Kazuya said. “They just wanted to do experiments on us.”

“Is that really so much better than being eaten?”

“I don’t know since they never got to the part where they would do the experiments.”

“I would imagine that it’s not fun at all”, Jin said slowly and stared out at the zombie that was just standing on the street, looking kind of confused but Jin figured that the head tilt was because of something in its neck was severed. “I would rather just be eaten and then wander around with no thoughts at all but to find a human to chew on.”

“That’s really disgusting”, Kazuya grimaced. “I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep now.”

Jin left his place by the window and crawled into bed next to Kazuya, embracing the younger man. Kazuya shivered and wrapped the covers tighter around them.

“Your feet are cold”, Kazuya complained. “No, actually your entire body is cold.”

“I’m sorry”, Jin said and smiled apologetically. “I hope that it won’t be getting much colder than this. Lucky that we live in a town to the south, huh?”

“Yeah, really lucky but if we were even luckier, we would live on Bali or something and there would be no zombie apocalypse.”

“That’s true”, Jin sighed and tried to discretely rub his body against Kazuya’s in hope that the friction would make him warmer so the younger man wouldn’t have to freeze for longer than necessary, unfortunately nothing involving rubbing is very discreet.

“What the hell are you doing?” Kazuya asked and slapped Jin’s arm, thankfully not the one filled with zombie bites.

“I was, uh, trying to make me warmer”, Jin tried to explain but he had a feeling that Kazuya didn’t believe him; it felt very much like Kazuya slapping him again. “Ouch! You’re just mad because it turns you on, aren’t you?”

“You wish”, Kazuya said but if it was even remotely possible, Jin could swear that he heard the younger man blush. “We’ve had similar conversations before and should you really be that horny when in fact your blood is pumping so slowly that it should be almost impossible for you to actually... get an erection?”

“There are a lot of impossible things happening around us that aren’t so impossible after all and I guess that my libido is one of those things”, Jin said and Kazuya had to laugh.

“You’re such a... I don’t even know what to call you. You can be so profound and sweet and then you have this other perverted part of you and the stupidly honest part. I can’t figure you out as easily as I first thought I could.”

“I’m like an onion, you know, I have layers.”

“Someone has watched Shrek”, Kazuya said with a smile.

“I love that movie, it’s brilliant”, Jin replied with a chuckle. “It’s funny how both children and adults can watch it and find it hilarious only maybe not the same parts of it.”

“Are you sure you understand the grownup jokes?” Kazuya teased and Jin tickled him a bit as vengeance.

“I should punish you for that.”

“You could try but I don’t see how you could.”

Jin grinned and brought their lips together in a kiss which surprised Kazuya because he didn’t think that was a punishment at all. He could see where Jin was going though when he felt a leg sneak in between his and rub certain places through the layers of fabric.

Kazuya broke the kiss with a whimper, “Jin, stop it.”

“It’s punishment”, Jin mumbled and placed kisses along Kazuya’s neck. “Bear with it.”

“We’ve only known each other for a couple of months now”, Kazuya said and moaned when Jin sucked on a spot on his collarbone.

“That’s plenty of time for others even if they aren’t in the middle of an apocalypse”, Jin caressed Kazuya’s cheek. “What are you so afraid of?”

“I don’t have the experience you do and I’m afraid that it’ll hurt and what if we get too close to each other like this and then it doesn’t work out? What if I give myself to you, my heart and my body and then lose you? I couldn’t stand that, not in this situation.”

“I hadn’t thought about it that way... I’m afraid of those things too I guess but if we let our fear rule us then we’ll never get to experience something that could possibly be amazing. I’m a ‘live in the moment’ kind of guy, you know. And if you’re afraid that it will hurt we can just touch each other and nothing more or I’d let you be on top which is not exactly my comfort zone but hey, it’s only fair.”

“I guess the moment is all we really have now, isn’t it?” Kazuya asked and bit his lip. “And I’m really attracted to you and I like you so I guess... we can do it. I’d be too scared to be on top though because then I’d have to do things and I might screw up and hurt you since I haven’t done anything like this before.”

“Don’t worry about it, you can only screw me right”, Jin grinned and earned another slap. “Jokes aside, we can just touch for now and kind of go with the flow. If you do want to go all the way though, I grabbed lube and condoms at the warehouse the last time we were there.”

“You were planning this”, Kazuya stated.

“I was hoping for this. Hey, I’m only a guy so you can’t expect me not hoping for this.”

“I hope that you do know that I am in fact also a guy and I haven’t been hoping for this.”

“I am perfectly aware of that”, Jin rubbed his thigh against Kazuya who let out a small moan. “I do know that you’ve wanted this even if you weren’t hoping for it. I know that because you’ve thought about why you shouldn’t do it and you wouldn’t think about that unless you wanted to.”

“Stop being such a smartass”, Kazuya said. “You’re a real pain in the ass sometimes.”

“Not yet but if you want to I can be real soon.”

“Let’s just not talk, okay?”

“Fine with me”, Jin kissed Kazuya passionately and soon neither of them had any thought of talking.

Kazuya felt more tired when normal when he woke up but he stretched out with a smile and then noticed that Jin wasn’t lying next to him. Blearily he opened his eyes and spotted Jin who was in the process of packing things into a large backpack.

“What are you doing?” Kazuya asked, confused and for a second he thought that Jin was going to leave him but then labelled that thought as ridiculous.

Being together with someone for over two months just to get into their pants and then leave in the middle of a zombie apocalypse was not a very likely scenario. At least that was what Kazuya would like to think.

“I’m just packing down some stuff”, Jin said without looking at Kazuya. “We have to leave tonight.”

“What? I thought that we agreed that we wouldn’t leave until spring and it’s barely January.”

“I know that we agreed to that but they’re coming to look for me so we can’t stay here or they’ll take us both.”

Kazuya frowned and stared at Jin’s tense back; what the hell was the older man talking about? Who were the ones looking for him? It wasn’t zombies because they weren’t interested in Jin and they didn’t have the ability to think like that so that could only mean that living humans were the ones looking for him. How did Jin know that they were looking for him and why hadn’t he told Kazuya that he knew of other survivors?

“You have some explaining to do”, Kazuya said and Jin finally turned to look at him, the older man looked completely exhausted and more zombie like than ever before.

“I guess we have time to talk since it’s still only morning”, he said and sat down on the bed next to Kazuya.

Jin dragged a hand through his already messy hair and took a deep breath. He knew that he should’ve told Kazuya about it when he first heard the helicopter but he didn’t want to believe that they would start looking for him from the ground. The fact that they would look for him at all was mindboggling enough.

“It happened in the beginning when the zombies had just appeared and I’d gotten bit”, Jin began. “I was already disoriented from my change and I was just wandering around aimlessly when this van pulled over beside me and suddenly I was dragged into the back of it by men in protective gear. Apparently they’d been watching me and noticed that I wasn’t like other zombies so they took me to this place and asked me a lot of questions and then did experiments on me. I can’t even remember much of it because they drugged me to keep me mellow but I managed to escape somehow and I remember running. Now I don’t know where they’d taken me because when I got out of there I just ran and got lost.”

“So there’s a large organised group of survivors out there and they’re possibly some kind of scientists?” Kazuya asked and Jin nodded. “And now they’re looking for you... Don’t you think that it’s possible that they just want to examine you to find a cure or something since you’re not a full zombie?”

“I thought so too at first but then why wouldn’t they just say so? I would let them do the experiments on me willingly, without them having to drug me. But there are other things that don’t make sense either, I remember being in some sort of cage and next to me in other cages were zombies and the experiments they did on me didn’t make sense if they’re looking for a cure.”

Kazuya clutched the covers tightly to his chest and frowned, “I guess that we have to leave then”, he said after a moment of silence. “Are they searching through the houses?”

Jin nodded, “I don’t know how they can know that I’m here, either they know or they’re just systematically searching through the entire town for me.”

“I’ll just take a shower and then I’ll help you pack”, Kazuya said, wrapping the covers around him and heading for the bathroom.

In the faint sunlight seeping through the cracks and with Jin looking frightened, suddenly Kazuya felt more vulnerable than he had in his entire life.

A/N: Sometimes I think that I sound so terribly British... then other times I sound terribly American. XD *bricked* Well, I honestly prefer British, that's the kind of English I was taught in school and the accents are to die for. *___*

Anyway, that was random... I have actual plot in this chapter! :D Yes, I didn't have any plot planned and then made one up for this one. XD It's my usual way of working.
